Why is it that anti gun people always say that we the law abiding supplie the criminals with guns? If it were not for us, crime would be much more prevelant in the US. I am not going to debate this argument again, because you will not ever believe anything said pro gun. Accidental deaths, my god, a doctor kills his patient by accident? If we do that as an ordinary citizen we get charged with manslaughter and go to jail. Why do you think the are practicing doctors? They need to practice! When they are done practicing then they should help us. The fact of the matter is is that criminals still there guns, get them illegally and illegally use them. The founding fathers included the 2nd amendment because they said it was a god given right. And a god given right cannot be taken away, unlike in England where the kings frequently disarmed the peasants whenever they got a little too ballsy. Ownership of weapons over there were considered a right given. Rights given can be taken away. If you are anti gun great, but stop throwing up tripe because you don't like guns.     | ||

Chesty, your right to own a gun should not overpower the FACT that millions of children are killed each year by guns in america. Especially all those fully auto assalt rifles people are using here to shoot up the town. Just yesterday a 15 year old walked onto a school bus and killed 45 people with a bazooka. I hope they try him as a child because it is mean to sentence killers to death when they are only 15. So what if he broke 231 different laws. I have never been out of my apartment when I did not get shot at. There are crazy gun owners everywhere. Every single one of us knows atleast 5 people killed by guns. Oh, maybe I am full of shit. Perhaps we should have the dems sell more nuclear weapon plans to the chinese. That is much safer ------------------ | ||

I am a little behind on this subject (on account of political atheism), but, I have one question. Are guns the enemy, or is it hand guns? I can handle citizens needing guns, but do they really need really small guns that can be kept in a fanny pack? Does anyone hunt with hand guns? how many crimes are commited with rifles versus handguns? I am curious... Puc | ||

The purpose of the gun is to be used as a tool, for self defense, target practice and hunting. Do guns kill no, do people kill yes. Do people murder people using guns, yes. But it is the person not the tool that needs to be outlawed. Handguns are no more of a problem than any other weapon. In fact, while people misusing a handgun cause a lot of death over a years time, just one person with a rifle will cause much more death in a single instance vs the handgun. Why? you ask? If I am hiding on a roof top or in the woods at a distance of 500 yards or more and I am a good shot, I can paralyze the city or town for days and only fire a couple of shots. I can also kill alot more people over an extended time period than anyone person with a handgun. I gaurantee you that if a well trained Marine or Army type snapped a synappse, that by the time they are done or killed you will have several hundred dead, dying and wounded. Why do I say this about rifles? Because all of you brainwashed minions are spouting HCI (handgun control incorporated) propaganda bullshit about handguns. Most of the antigun types don't even know what the different types of guns are let alone how to use one. You then tell us that we are brainwashed and spouting NRA crap. Well, the NRA and othe like minded groups publish their statistics with all info needed to verify and or refute their claims. HCI and others do not. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE OINTMENT. ONLY PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! TAKE AWAY THE GUN/BULLETS WE GO TO KNIVES AND BATS, TAKE THOSE AWAY WE GO TO BARE HANDS. What good will a gun to for our survival...Help Protect us from wild animals make it easier to hunt animals to eat, help protect from others stealing our food, and help protect our shelter.....Can a Dr protect us from animals, can a Dr without a weapon get us meat, can a Dr. Protect our shelter? Hmmmm..when I first came to this board over a year ago, I was more democratic than anything, just because that's how I was raised. Now I like to think I have advanced quite a bit beyond that brainwashed attitude I once held, and I am certainly no longer a democrat, nor a republican however..maybe more libertarian than anything. ANYWAY, I think outlawing guns is a BAD idea, because look at the prohibition, or the drug war...criminals will be the only ones with guns. And only a fucking moron would believe that outlawing guns would have stopped Columbine. | ||

yeah but for collectors guns, the gun can be deacivated (breach filled with lead, firing pin removed etc) and the gun can still look cool. true, the gun can be re-activated, but only with carefulk machining. the gun laws over here are more a public re-assurance thing. if a criminal wanted a gun, he could get one. if i wanted a gun, i could (hypothetically ). but it would be so damn hard most don;t bother hence most people aren;t shit scared some uys gonna kill them with a gun. but the UK is totally diffrent to the us. gun laws may work over but IMHO they can't be effectivly enforced over there. which is a pity, because from a foreign perspective the right to bear arms is automatically assoiciated with a US (note i said perspective!!!no flame!!!) ------------------ | ||

I dont mean successful that way silly... I mean in violent crime and murder...less people yes, but less crime even in that relation too. Ironically, in Toronto, the highest amount of violent crime is in the area where there are the most guns. The rest of them just jump in front of the subway or off the Gardiner over pass, or in the case of my own home town, just give their wives an old fashined beating to death. My folks used to have a house in Fla, and the horror stories they've told me of guns in American is just mind boggling. you never find that stuff here....cops sticking their guns in your face for a speeding violation, or someone breaking into your house with an AK47 (or some such nasty weapon)... my point to you is chesty, I live in a gun controlled society and for me and 95% of the rest of us is partially what makes this a great place to live, so you will NEVER convince me that rampant gun use and abuse is the way to be. Its like telling someone who has never known anything but deomocracy the pros of communism. It just doesnt work. | ||

Once I had the pleasure of dispatching a pack of wild dogs that not only killed a bunch of cattle but tried and chase down a mother and her daughter going from thier house to thier car. This was the hardest hunt of my life. I was called at home in the city by my grandfather and ask by the sheriff to help. You see they had alot of guns and hunting knowledge. In this town of a 114 people he didn't want someone(local) to get hurt by possibily kill someone else dog and be blamed - fueds. One of the other factors is that they knew how I hunted and felt that I was a good choice to solve the problem. Well my AK and my AR-15 were my first chioce. I went out on the four wheel with my AK and started in until I found them. At the end multiple targets were dead and no bolt rifle would have handled the job. I think with a bolt/lever gun I would have had my hand full. Come to think of it I use more than 10 rounds. Thats was for three dogs. I shoot what I thought were the alpha's and left several go. I still remember that old farmer crying about his calves and thanking me when it was over. He told me I had a place at his dinner table when ever I was in town. | ||

our bobbies HAVEN'T armed themselves(or at least i hope not. chnaces are that you got a little mixed up on the terminology. we have armed police and standard constables or 'bobbies'. the standard guys have maybe CS gas, a walkie talkie and possibly a baton of some sort. the armed guys have glocks, mp5's PSG's etc. but yeah, violoent crime with guns have gone up, like i said criminals can get a hold of guns, but your average joe probably couldn't. our violent crime has gone up, due to the way the country as a whole has moved, but the gun laws work here as a nut job can;t own a gun, and they are enforcible. i was just saying it would be much harder to enforce over there | ||

Yeah fortunately they consider all the nut jobs the average citizen, you see your gov't doesn't trust you. In the end you will find out the hard way. I got the bobbies being armed straight from an Englander I used to work with. He told me that after the total gun control was passed they got tired of getting the shit beat out of them and being shot at with no defense. Kat, I have lived in this country for 36 years and seen most of it. I believe that your parents, no I know your parents have way overexaggerated the stories. With the exception of the la shoot out a few years ago, very little crime is committed with the so called assault weapon, ak-47. In fact so little crime is committed with these types of weapons that they are almost untrackable. When I was in Canada, even the police were finding it difficult to catch the criminals because even they have been restricted so much that they can't do anything. And I know a few from Toronto who would disagree with you. I am not trying to change your mind. In the end when only the police are armed you have a police state! Think about this whether you like guns or not, reread my earlier statements, sooner or later you will find out just how hard it is to get a gun if you don't own it already, becuase at some point the gov'ts will be ruling and watching you everystep of the way. Telling you when to fuck, when to shit, when to piss, when to die, when to work, what to be, how to be that and so on. Fear the gov't that fears its citizens. That is the reason they are disarming us. They fear us and when we no longer pose a threat to them, guess what? Bye bye freedom of any sort, period. ------------------ | ||
