Last night on tv, there was a story about an ex-con who stole a car, shot a Sheriff's deputy and crashed his car into a mather and child, killing them both. He was wanted on a murder charge.

The news reporter interview him and his comments gave me a little insight into why criminals do what they do.

First, he was sorry about the mother and child, but he did not apoligize to the Deputy or the family of the man he killed. He stated that he was a criminal, what he does is on the opposing side of the law and the Deputy should expect combative behavior from him. Same thing with the guy he murdered. To paraphrase "he was a criminal like myself and involved in illegal activities and should expect violent situations to occur from time to time".
He said that if he had to do it all over again, he would have shot the Deputy over and over to make sure he was dead.

I guess a lot of criminals have basically chosen to disobey what social standards we have set up as a society. What scared me so much is how well he spoke, he seemed very intelligent and educated, yet his attitude was very cold and uncaring.

BTW, he ended up getting the death penalty

Strange world we live in.

I agree with him on this.... if you in a gang or dealing you gonna get shot at a few times...

But killing the cop and the mother/child is just tragic.... let the fucker die

it's a shame that people have to die, but does anyone think someone is just going to give themselves up after a crime which might send them to their death or prision?

Not saying it's right but what would any of us do if we were in that situation for some reason?
