I have a freshwater tank.

but for a shark, I would assume you would want a big tank$$$$$, the cost of upkeep on a salt water tank$$$$$$$$, cost of a shark, and if you have someone come out and maintenance it once a month$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

it would be expensive but fun to own a shark

I had an aqaurium once, but I'd get hungry and eat all my fish. I also once shot a load in a girl's fishtank after she finished blowing me. That's what she gets for not swallowing...

I have two, both freshwater. I used to have some piranhas but they are long gone ( not as exciting as you would think but still interesting). If you never had one before I would stick with freshwater because salt is a huge pain in the ass.

I used to have an 85 gallon freshwater tank. I started off with a big red belly piranha, but it was pretty boring to watch. Then I had an awesome pet, a caimen. If you want something cool then I'd consider getting one. Started him off with goldfish, then rat pinkies(fetuses), small mice, and finally medium rats. That bastard would eat a mouse basically everyday. He'd usually kill it instantly, on top of that I'd have his tank stocked with fish for his snacks. He got too big after a few years so I gave him away. North American aligators are cool too, but they get bigger faster.

i've worked at a tropical fish store and have had MANY aquariums.. i want another...

my favorite sea pet... OCTOPUS!!! god they are cool.. they can squeeze into such a tiny little place... and dont believe that shit about the ink killing all living organisms in the water, mine inked plenty of times...

place a gold fish in a pop bottle and the little fucker will twist the cap off!!!

anyway...

if your going to get a shark, have at least an 85 gallon tank or be willing to go even bigger at some point.. you can start with a 29 wich is the smallest tank i'd use for a salt water tank... cat sharks are cheap yet are still sharks. dont get too fancy cuz it will cost too much for a learning experience. the good thing about sharks, especially the bottom sharks is that you can have other fish too... sharks are quite boring though... if you get a different type of shark they usually do a circle around the tank, all day every day... you will feel like you have trapped him, and you have... i think you can find nurse sharks pretty easily, but not sure where your at... or how much you wanna spend.. if your willing to spend the cash, the store can get you anything you want, including a blue ringed octopus that can kill you quite easily
