Bros, I hate to even admit that I smoke (cigs), but I do. I have since I was 13 frickin years old (24 now). The only time I have ever quit was when I was locked up for a month and I still went back to the garbage after my buddies had a party the day I got out. Anyway, I am sure some of you have quit, but how? I have Ziban/Wellbutrin, but they recommend you not be in an atmosphere where you would smoke. Well, when aren't I in a frickin atmosphere where I can smoke? I can't stand the shit anymore, but damn if I can go to a club and watch people smoke. Nasty, stinkin', expensive, fucked up habit.

Thanks bros......

And for any of you guys that don't smoke and reply, keep in mind that nicotine is the single most addictive drug known to man.

My man, I started smoking somewhat young, maybe 16? Dunno. Anyway, I used to smoke here and there, then started buying them, smoked like a pack a day, etc etc, then this is what happened one time..

I got a cold, and my lungs were shot. I couldn't smoke, even though I so wanted to. I was like that for a week.

So, after I got better, I started slacking off the smokes, I figured well, shit it's been over a week, I can go longer. So, I went a few more days, then started again, but, my intake was drastically reduced.
Then there came a time a few years back where i started working out cause I was pretty sick of the way my body was heading. around that time, the only time I wanted a cig was for the social aspect, if i saw my friends doing it, or just being around people, I wanted one. If I was sitting home, I had no desire.

So, what happened was there was a time where I stopped hanging around with my friends for a while because they were pissing me off. This meant I wasn't smoking either, cause I wasn't around any of my friends, and couldn't bum a smoke. I was smoke free for maybe a month, then of course I started again, but it was really low intake, like one a day, if that. It continued like this for over a year at least.

Then just last month, I swiched to a keto diet, and figured I'd stop smokin that one a day also. So as of today, it's been 29 days without a smoke, yahoo. I can even sit around people who smoke and not want one. I DO have dreams tho where I smoke, I think oh it's been so long, this wont hurt just having just one, then I wake up all pissed cause I smoked, and I'm like oh just a dream cool.

So..that's how I ended up quitting, hopefully for good. As for you, well, honestly, try to just drop it man. Cold turkey. Test your willpower. If you can cut carbs instantly, (oh yeah, imagine my willpower, cutting carbs AND nicotine out all at once!)and you can beat your own ass in the gym, or put yourself through any sort of abuse like that, you can stop smoking. Granted you will most likely be a pissy sonofabitch, but the cravings will eventually pass man, seriously. And you can always , ALWAYS have that story to tell peopel about how your mind is so tough that you dropped the habit just like that out of nowhere

Try reading a book called Rational Recovery. It's written as another way of quiting addictions besides 12 step programs mostly aimed at drinking but it can be interperated for smoking too. I think even being around people who smoke this might prepare you to handle not smoking...

zyban is great. Nothing works unless you want to quit though. Dont be discouraged if you smoke or give up completely. It took me 3 tries and I am on 8 months now after 14 years. I am off th zyban and sometimes I still want one, but I have the control now to just not do it. Good luck, you can do it.

Zyban worked for me. Its expensive, but it really does work. I kept forgetting to smoke.
There is a program called silkquit which you
can record soem amzing stats once you'v quit.
See below. The bit bout 32,243 is amazing
Grotto
Two years, eleven months, six days, 18 hours, 32 minutes and 31 seconds. 32,243 cigarettes not smoked, saving $6,448.63. Life saved: 15 weeks, 6 days, 22 hours, 55 minutes.

Thanks bros for all the positive feedback. I have heard a lot of good shit about Zyban, but it's one of them things that you really have to "want" to quit if you want the drug to work the way it's supposed to. Seeing as I live with a smoker, go to school with 10,000 smokers, work in outside sales where I can smoke any time I want, and go to clubs with a half million people puffing away, I think it will be kinda tough to get away from it. We'll see what happens here in the next few months.........Thanks

And in response to RG - you need to chill bro. Sure this is a public board, and 9 out fo ten people here flame just to get a rise out of others, but being 28 bro, you should really be a little more grown up. Just because I don't want to give up going to clubs at 24, and finding some of the finest women AZ has to offer, to sit on my ass and flame people on a public board, doesn't classify me as a loser. In fact, that's precisely what I would say you are - a fucking LOSER. Later turd burglar. Grow up kiddo.

What's the deal with Zyban and alcohol?

3 or more drinks a day = risk of seizure?

I quit a long time ago with the gum.

Don't worry about being around others smoking. Once you quit, you'll realize how much it STINKS. I actually tell people to back up because I can't stand the smell of them. Kissing someone who smokes would now make me physically ill.

Good Luck....it's probably the best decision you'll ever make.

Bro, use the patch it is quite easy to quit with it. I tried without a few times and you know how that goes. With the patch no cravings at all, no real moodiness, sleep problems or anything. It really makes it too easy, expensive but worth it!
