I am looking at the Polaroid sprintscan 4000 (4000 dpi x 4000dpi) with an optical density of 3.4 and 12 bits per color channel, price 1458. The two nikons I am comparing to are the coolscan III ls-30, 2700 dpi x 2700dpi, optical density of 3.2 and 8 bits per color channel price is 548 (remanufactured by nikon) and the LS-2000 super coolscan at 2700dpi x 2700dpi, optical density of 3.6, and 8 or 12 bits per color channel, price is 1368 new from nikon. Now with the exceptin of resolution the Nikon seems a better deal (the ls-2000) My question is this: How much of a difference is there between a picture scanned at 4000dpi x 4000dpi and one at 2700dpi x 2700dpi? With the exception of zooming in do you think there is going to be much overall difference? ------------------ | ||
