I want my boss nowhere near my genitals. I just want more money and less whining. Can you believe that I spent weeks working on a program for him and now he wants half the shit changed? Hello? This ain't fucking romper room, buddy! I'm not here to play games.

You can't just tell someone to do something and then suddenly say: "oops just kidding change it around completely."

Fucking asshole.

I went ahead and asked for my raise. I gave him the blah blah I've been working here for X and have done Y for the company and just finished Z etc and that my pay was not even minimum for my field blahblahblah. I told him that I wanted $15/hr. He then gave me the whiney run-around speech about how he can't afford it right now (lol bullshit), but that yes I would get it and that it would only be a matter of time.

Last week I noticed an extra $1/hr on my paycheck so I did get a raise, albeit a crappy one. I don't mind getting paid a certain amount of money, but I do mind when I'm being paid LESS money than my job deserves.

Putting up with the BS is ridiculous as well. He sits there telling me that he's suddenly changed his mind and is making it look like I made a mistake in the first place. Nice. I like that.

if it makes you feel any better, that is just part of programming. ideally, you are part of a group that designs the project out relaly well before hand so you can prevent the changes like that - but even then they still come about.
but yeah, it is pretty common to be told to do X, you spend time doing it, and then they tell you what they really wanted was Y, and now they need it yesterday.

learning to not let it bother you will help you last a lot longer in the industry.

I am perfectly aware of that, Happy, and I wouldn't mind it one bit if I were being paid fairly for it. I mean, what do I have to complain about? I would be doing almost exactly the same thing that I did a few weeks prior, only I've already done it and it should be easier. My problem is that it feels like I'm working in a sweatshop or something.

Oh well, in a few years I won't have to worry about some goof boss. I'll be working with people whose intelligence levels are at least remotely close to mine.

yeah warik, just keep it in perspective - you are gaining lots of good real world experience - and still making a lot better hourly wage than most people your age.
I know it sucks, but hell, at least you aren't at a McD's or something

(it really sucks working for idiots, and unfortunately, they seem to be everywhere)

Hey Warik....not be a jerk, but WTF?? If he changes his mind then you have two choices:

1. Adjust and do what he asks

2. Quit

Whining about "not being here to play games" is the kind of stuff that will always make you a low-level employee.

I know you're a smart dude, and I know you'll start your own business. You'll succeed, because you;re smart and you want to.

You'll see that perhaps the BIGGEST problem of being an employer is finding quality employees - LIKE FOR EXAMPLE PEOPLE THAT DON'T WHINE WHEN THE BOSS (YOU) GETS A NEW IDEA.

You are going to want people who simply do what they are asked...well so does your boss.

$10/hr employees grow on trees dear Warik. Remember that when you have 25 of them.

Matt,

The funny thing about it all is that I'm not doing $10/hr work. In this case, $10/hr employees DON'T grow on trees because most other people this same work are in their 20s trying to support themselves and/or a family and stuff. Anyone else with comparable skill would want $20-$30 minimum.

Of course, I'm still going to do the job because it's my job, but that doesn't mean I have to do it with a smile on my face. Like I said to Happy, if I were being paid fairly for the job, I'd do it 10 times over with no problem.

I'm trying to help the company move forward and he's got me here wasting time re-doing a buncha junk.

Hopefully I'll have a new job soon, but I don't think many people will want to hire a 19 yr old college student to program from home for decent pay.

Warik,

Despite the going rate for what you do being higher than your salary, you are most definitely doing $10/hr work - from your boss's perspective. To him you seem easily replaced.

Most bosses suck. It will get better for you.

I was supposed to get a raise on my last paycheck and it didn't appear. I went and asked my boss wtf and he called and he had fucked some paperwork and that was why I didn't get it. Then he was like "you should get it next time".

I was pissed and was going to complain but then I thought "if he knows I'm pissed, when they finally do find all the shit missing I steal, they'll think it was me". So I just smiled and laughed and said something like "oh, don't worry, it sounds like something I would forget to do".

Tonight, I'm robbing these people blind. I'm even calling friends in to help carry shit out.

Let me see, you are at home making ten dollars an hour? Not bad, considering most people have to drive to work, work during fixed hours and and drive home. Let me tell you what, if you consider your not paying for gas, car maintanence and insurance (for the trip to and from work on a daily basis) You are not paying rent (living at home I presume)with minumum food expenses you are actually making more than 15 an hour. Don't knock it go with it.

I'm sick of being shit on at this place. The funny part is that I was promoted to where I am now to stop the theft. After seeing how bad they shit on employees I didn't even care what happened. Now that they're pulling shit on me I'm joining in on it.
I won't say where I work but there is more than one. At a different location an employee got so mad they burnt the office down, then went and tried to burn the owners house down.
I would simply quit but in June I get a new job and don't want to leave this place on a sour note.

wait... am I missing something here? you don't want to leave on a sour note, so you are going to steal stuff form the place. yeah, that makes sense.
I hope you are joking.
