If you had to design a wedsite and had a choise between these 2, wich would you use?

Macromedia Dreamweaver2 (with Homesite4.0 as the external HTML editor)
or
Adobe Go live 4.0 ????

what would you see as the Strengths and weakness of either program??

ThanX

I'm very happy with Dreamweaver (although I'm using version 3)

I think Dreamweaver is more powerful and has slightly better hand editing capablitly and JavaScript functionality, but the main differences are in the interface. If you're already used to using Adobe products like Illustrator and PhotoShop, GoLive might be a bit easier to learn. Personally, I like Macromedia products, and do a lot of work with Flash, Fireworks and FreeHand, so the Dreamweaver interface made more sense to me.

I have heard some nice things about Dreamweaver; however, I, personally, would go with notepad.exe.

yeah, textpad is the way to go - I hate the code generators - they write crappy ass code - every now and then my company will hire out a consulting firm to write some shit and then they pass it on to me to fix and I'll look through and the code is a mess b/c it was all generated. bitches.

learn it and use textpad.

although homesite isn't all bad as long as you are still writing your own code. I thought dreamweaver sucked hairy ass. on the other hand, some places like to see it on your resume, so at least get familiar with the crap.

Along the lines of what Happy said, it basically depends on whether you can write code or if you need something to generate it for you.

If your prepped in HTML, GoLive.

If not, DW is good.
