.. in a way. I G Farbin, was the official chemical company at the time of Hitler. AFter the war it was broken up into three different companies by the Allies... Bayer, BASF, and Hoescht (I know people who work for Hoescht). Besides the gas used in the gas chambers, Farbin developed heroin, methadone, and nylon. Interesting stuff.

when you say they devloped those various things... they invented Methadone in the 20's (I think 1929 - IG Farbendustrie at Hoechst-am Main).
Heroin was invented in the late 1800's - came about from an extraction process via morphine.
they may have made nylon, but it was invented by a french dude - a mister "duPont" - may have heard of his comany he started. there are tons of different variations on the theme though, so perhaps they invented one of the varients. (two notable varients are gore tex and teflon)

In college and several times in high school I got a chance to make nylon - smelly stuff. very flamable. one variation uses formaldhyde (sp?) and that stuff will fuck your brain cells up hard core with extended exposure.
