the guy that got busted. da po-lease wuz uzn a thermo cam on peoples houses. They spotted a roof top that was glown big time. they raided the dudes house, sho nuff, busted fer grown. I also saw a "cops" episode where they readed another guys house cuz his utility usage was extreamly high. not for you give any secrets away but damn. These freak'n cops sure sound like they know what to look for. Im sure there are ways to go about disguising this. the dude is appealing (i think) on invasion of privacy. He admits he was grown, but he says his rights were violated. whats your .02     | ||

Yeah they fly over your house and have a heat and energy detector of some kind. Thats why you dont grow in excess. Kind of sucks. ------------------ | ||

wouldn't it be relatively easy to shield against that? it is just an infrared scanner, which is heat, so you just put up some insulation to not allow the heat to escape. like, say you have your shit in the basement, then just put insulation on the walls and all along the floor? and if they watch your electricity and you are really hard to up to be growing, I hear they gots them 'lectric generators o'er at Wal Mart. Of course all of this is a moot point - you obviously haven't been reading the aliens thread - there is such a big conspiracy afoot that THEY will find you no matter what you do. and if they don't, jesus will. ------------------ | ||

This technology is not that new...WODIN was busted back in the 70s for keeping a crew of mountain goats up in his attic and cops busted him using a thermo cam. His excuse of "they're for recreational use" didn't hold up well in court and thus he was locked up like my windows 98 running pc. ------------------ | ||

1 question if someone has a garden in a closed greenhouse, just because you might use alot of electricity for bright lights and whatever and they detect thermal heat, as well as notice your electricity use goes up. How does that give them the right to search...I actually do not believe the cops would search based on that...Since that would be assuming to much...I think someone would have to get to be well known and rumored to be a grower in order for something like that to happen..I like gardening and one day when I get some land I'll laugh my ass off if the po po's raid my garden thinking they are going to have a stash of smoke there... I can see it now TxCollegeguy guy sues the city police for all their are worth for harrasement...I'm sure that would make great headlines in some papers and on the news | ||

My Goats are all memorialized in a bronze relief hanging over the fire place in my study. This is to remind me...NEVER AGAIN! DAMN FEDERALIES!!!! The fundamental issue here is whether or not the use of thermal image scanning is a form of unwarrented search. I would say yes, point your dam scan somewhere else puke face. ------------------ | ||

Usually it's a combination of things. Once they suspect, they will follow several avenues of investigation. After those avenues of investigation pan out, then they get a warrant. They're not flash-in-the-pan, it's not as simple as them just taking a thermo-cam reading. It's a combination of factors. the guy who got caught wasnt so bright. probably didnt have a good enough ventilation system.. and about the use of too much electricity.. there are ways to get around that... the problem is the high sodium lights.. u need to be moving air constantly to prevent "hot spots"... and the ventilation cant just go out the window the odor would be too strong and someone would report it.. if u line the walls in a good insulation and cover the insulation with a reflective material such as foil.. u get better light efficiency... only time i had to worry bout hot spots was during the growth.. because i kept the lights on 24hours a day.. maximum efficency for the plants.. i used a combination of high sodium and flurocents... results were pretty good.. during flowering the ideal time is.. 16hours no light 8 hours some light... but it needs complete! darkness to get the plant to kick into flowering.. any lil window crack the light could get through will rob u of a nice crop... ventilation i used to go through the floor.. go out about 100yards underground with and had a vent that looked like a rock.. it worked quite nicely.... used mass air flow to keep it clear... and cool... very nice.. made a ton of cash.. for medicinal use of course.. hehe my disclaimer.. its all in my mind i swear.. lol ------------------ | ||

Has anyone here seen diagrams of the old underground tunnels the VC built in vietnam??That gave me the idea about spacing out your ventilation and with a modern touch to keep other shit out from cralling down use concrete tubing...Haven't thought much about stopping rain from dripping down, but given time I'm sure I could think of something If someone were really growing to make money I would hope and think they wouldn't let anyone close to them know about it, let alone never bring back someone to see what it was they are growing...I personally like flowers and gardening and will one day try and raise some cool looking plants by artificial light and perhaps hydroponics...Maybe even some vegies to eat. You know I haven't heard from Moe in a long time, if anyone out there talks with him or if he comes by to read posts tell him Hello for me | ||
