Pardon my french, however it is well deserved. I signed up for the marathon, as I do my triathalons, on www.active.com. Well I wasted my entire weekend, didn't go out fri, turned down a date sat, no salt, no caffine...no beer ....I get up at fucking 4:30am to drive down to Key Biscayne for this marathon...only for find out it was cancelled!!!!!!! So when i got home I logged on to my active.com account and next to my registration it says cancelled!! My credit card was charged for this race like 2 months ago, I tried calling the event coordinator like 3 time prior to get some info and no call backs. I'll I'm asking for is a fuckin e mail!!!!!!!! IS THAT TO MUCH TO FUCKING ASK FOR!!!!!???

And to add to the joy of training for this fucking marathon for months on end and not lifting for the last like 3 weeks, I search for any upcomming marathons to reschedule.....but the closest one is in May in Pensacola!! I'm not keeping up this abundant running scheduel with little lifting for another fucking couple of months!!! THats it!!! I'm going back to just triathalons, and fuck this marathon!!!Maybe I'll do one at the end of the year, I dunno.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK....ok I feel much better now.....

Agent Shagwell I understand this pain all to well...

I used to run CC and track for a college and training for that kind of distance is at times more mentaly grueling then physically...Though I do not run much anymore I have alot of respect for anyone that makes that choice to throw themselves into that sport...

What is your training like?

I ran in highschool with a guy that at one time was a national class triathalon and his training was insane, going back and forth from CC to swimming year round.

And I def don't miss running 100+ miles a week, that shit just wears anyone out after awhile

Up untill the last week, were I cut back, I was running about 70 miles a week...Mon-Fri am and pm, and a long run on the weekends.

The funny thing is people think oh you must feel so great, and great shape. Actually I started feeling like shit. Expecially when I cut out lifting. My muscles felt all soft, my joints hurt, and running started to tire me out, istead of how it used to effect me by giving me tons of energy. It was just too much....catabolism sucks ass. Plus this weekend I went almost straight carbs.....talk about you highs and lows insulin levels. Ironically I thought I would love eating plain pasta again (used to be my fav) but I craved steak.

So now I'm left with less muscle mass, no strength, sore joints...and didn't even COMPLETE MY GOAL!!!! So it will haunt me and I will probably forcce my self to train for another one maybe next year and have to go through the same shit.

damn that sucks...yeah when I first reported for CC when I got to college I weighed about 170 in the best shape of my life. They took 1 look at me and told me I had to cut down to 150lbs...At 6'1 thats not the easiest thing to do.

They put me on a strict diet, Cut my carbs in half compared to where it was, and removed the milk products...now I wont even think about taking calcium tablets, yuck.
I never did more then 70 miles a week preseason in highschool and over the summer would avg between 70-80miles. College running was crappy, I just wasnt built to run 100+ miles a week I got down to 155lbs lost all my strength and ran slower compared to when I was 170 and had more injuries then a person should.

After my 1st CC race we got back into town about 3am and we had to be back at 6 to go outside of town to run back the 15miles. Aww the memories of pain it was such a good way to spend a sunday morning. I ended up quitting during track season cause my ACL was inflammed and running for 6+ months with pain and injuries was just more then I wanted for college.

One day I might consider running again perhaps when I am a Geezer and retire. I had the goal to run accross the U.S. when I was in Jr high and thats the last running goal I would like to accomplish, before I die. If I don't no biggy but it would be fun to try I think

After like 3 hours you just can't think of anything else but...why the hell am I still running....damn this is fucking boring.
And I run with a walkman.

I have an friend who runs with out a walk man...he's insane, I would go mad running 3 hours listening to those damn cars zoom zoom zoom. I mean my dog runs in the moring with me for an hour and I think the cars piss her off when they scare the shit out of her.

Triathalons are just more fun, lifting is good, I dont' have to carb load. I love adventure racing...thats my favorite. Unfortunately there are not to many of these, last one I did was awsome...ocean swim where we had to swim a length then carry these freasand bags along the beach, then swim again and do the andbag pull again, then 15 miles technical mountain biking, then 5 mile run with obsticals like a mud pitt, wall climb, river crossing, cabel pull, rope bridges.....it was soooooooo much fun. Unfortuantely, ususaly adventure races are multi day evensts...with teams...hard to scheduel those, plus they are very expensive to do.
