Is the Army the only branch of the military that offers a reserve program?

Has anyone here ever enlisted in the reserve's- what's it like?

H

Marines have reserves. You get the full deal too, 13 weeks of boot camp at parris island (if your on the east coast). I believe that most Marine reservists were full timers before, at least that is the way it is here.

I thought the reserves is a one weekend a month type of thing?

The Marines make you go for a 13-week bootcamp or is it split up over time?

Marine Corps does have Reserves.

you sign up as a reservist but you still have to go through training and schooling as active duty, and once you finish your school, you will do the one weekend a month thing.

All branches have a reserve. The deal is not all branches are in the area where you live.
Most reserve are 2 days a month and two weeks a year.
Its seams like a cake walk. Until you are called up to police some shit hole country for half a year.
Yes the Marines require the full 13 weeks of boot camp. Though the corp shouldn't waste their money on weekend warriors.

Why? the Ready Reserve is a great place for those who have been active and still want to serve, but have bigger plans, such as college, a real income and so on.

I would rather be stationed with a group of Marine Reserve in combat before any other reserve orginization.

I spent eight years in the Air National Guard fooling around with F4's and watching the Cards and the Blues in St.Louis. It was a good experience. But yes, had to do boot camp, I don't think there's anyway around it.
