Problem is, I just finished a Computer Networking course that included A+, MCSE, and Novell, but so far I have only been able to get my A+ certification. I got canned out of my last job about 3 months ago unexpectedly, so now I got no cash flow coming in to get my other certifications. At this point I no longer care where I have to work, even McDonald's is ok. What can you guys recommend me? Thanks in advance.

Did you try the headhunter / temporary places yet? You are just A+ certificed? How about wire companies, you know the people that string and test computer wire for networks?

I tried quite a few of the Internet Worksites, most of them are BS. There's so many jobs that say my skill level is enough, I apply, and never get a reply. Yeah, technically all I got is A+, although I do know my MCSE but lack the Certificates. I tried a few of the Headhunters, they promise a lot, but I don't see anything in the end. As for the wire companies I don't know, I guess I can try to look for some...

why can't you get the certification? borrow some money man and do it now cause as soon as you get it you'll make some good money. Nobody's calling you right now because the employers are searching now with computers through thier applications...It's like searching on the web. They want people to fit their criteria (which is certification)...nobody looks through applications anymore..computers do it

Experience is a huge part in landing a job. Certifications are nice but if you really know your shit not required. Future, For the most part technical recruiters and marketing reps for the big consulting companies are big fucking liars, promise the world and deliver nothing. Ive been in the racket for 5 years almost 6 working for various financial and telecom companies in NYC and NJ, doing network management, design and support earning a nice 6 figure salary. You need to be persistent in this venture, your first job is always the hardest. After that its the same shit more money. I personally was voluntarily R.I.Fed as of Jan 1 and am not even looking for new work. Let me know what part of Canada your in. I know of bunch of people in Toronto. IG

Put your resume out on monster, dice..etc check all of the sites daily, but I also think you're going to be limited with just A+ certification, usually if you have a degree from college it'll land you a job, otherwise they're gonna expect experience and certs more advanced than A+. Try to land any job even if it's tech support, and work your way up.

Jay Z, In NY city, that's pretty much par for the course....and the top people (which IG likely is) get there even quicker.

Jayz, At $65/hr, by most of my peers standards I was considered UNDERPAID. Give me Future One for 6 months and put him on a SA or Networking team in a Financial companies/trading floor real-time environment, and he will either burn-out or learn more than he would in 5 years any place else. More importantly he would learn time management, organization and how to survive/thrive in a stressful atmosphere. IG

Oh and thanks for the compliment Matt. Top person? I doubt it, sometimes I feel a monkey could do my job and that I have forgotten more than I have learned over the years.
