There are a few people at work that swear by these ab roller things, sort of looks like a training wheel with a stick in the middle. Some of these wheels have some spring tension in them. Does anyone here use them? I'm skeptical about their usefulness. I've always done the routine in my "Legendary Abs" booklet.

John, I have a friend who tried one and he said they dont work. I don't work abs, I feel you will work your abs while doing other boday parts. The real key is diet, you have to be lean to show abs.

I used my sis-n-laws and the next day my abs was killing me and the next, for about three days, went and bought an ab-slide from Target and it works great. I do it and crunches for abs and it working great. I don't think most people think they work because of the infomercials you see, they say the normal bullshit to get you buy it and we as fitness people know theres no way in hell 3 minutes a day and a shitty diet will get rid of the fat hanging aroung the stomach. ------------------ Life is not about goals, but the journey through it.

They have one attached to a bench in my gym. They're good to give you a burn, then hit the decline crunches and leg raises. I do abs like once a month for about 5 minutes.

There's a fitness girl at my gym who swears by it. She has the original one, wheel with stick. Not one of these spring loaded rollerblade looking things. She's a hot ticket and her abs are tight as hell. She says you need a strong lower back to use it.

My gf tried it once, woke up with mega stomach pain (so maybe it worked somewhat) but it also kills your back.

I tried my sister in-laws. Gotta say my abs were sore as shit the next day. Felt like I had really worked them. I thought the infomercial stuff was bullshit too. But I can see these used in conjunction with my other ab exercises. Not replacing them. Then again, what the hell do I know? ------------------

for those of you who have tried them, which was better, the spring loaded one? or the regular wheel/stick one? ------------------

The spring loaded was is for pussies. That wheel with a stick on it, that fucking fucking kills your abs. No bullshit. I don't believe infomerrcial bullshit either, but give it a whirl, you won't want to laugh for days. They work. Grant, people bitch about the lower back, but mind you, this isn't a PAIN, as in hurting your back, it is muscle pain from working it. When your arms are fully extended over your head, sure as shit your lower back is getting a hell of a workout to hold your ass up there. Go buy one, like $10 at Wal-Mart. Just like with situps, use the wheel, straight, right side, left side, straight; etc.
