I use the seeds in a lot of my cooking. Heck - I even pour the little 'tards on my oatmeal in the morning- kinda crunchy but it works! I even love to put them in with my protein pancakes! Not bad- I like different textures in my foods!

It gets a sort of fermentation cloud if it gets too hot, etc. That stuff is real nasty straight from the factory. Flax is used for clothing, I personnally think it should be kept outside the body! Though, can't think of a good substitute, right now.

Always keep your flax oil in the fridge. It is always available to oxidation, so keeping it cold slows the process down. Also, smell the bottle when you first open it and get a idea of fresh flax oil smell, a different smell gives you a idea of it becoming rancid. Just my $.02 of info.

The flax seed oil I buy has an expiration on the bottom.....usually 6 months from purchase. I mix the oil and the seeds in my protein shakes. The seeds are best absorbed when the outside husk is broken. The shakes hide the taste of the flax which is less than palpable, in my opinion.

Is flax seed capsules any good? When I see flax seed oil they are always on the shelf, do they only need to be in the fridge AFTER its been opened?

The label on the flaxseed oil I use says that it should be put in the fridge after opening, and then use within 6 weeks.

Supposed to be a great source of EFA's, also help to lose fat somehow...

The way I understand it you have to have SOME fat or you die. So if you eat very clean you have to have some EFA's somehow. When I can't have peanut butter (my fav) I have flax seed oil.

Wasn't too keen on Black Currant or Borage Oil, for some reason. Primrose has high GLA and settles well in my stomach.
