SteelSoldier... I gave myself up once for a girl. She was my first love, the girl I lost my virginity to, the girl I initially thought I wanted to be with forever. The short version is this... She was depressed, I spent all of my time trying to make her happy, but instead made myself miserable. 1.5 years into this relationship I had let myself go physically and mentally. It got to the point where I didn't break up with her because I couldn't do any better. Finally, one day, I realized it is better to be alone than codependent. And, then, things ended. They ended suddenly and completely. We actually "dumped each other," as wacky as that sounds. Best day of my life. You cannot end something that has lasted three years by letting her sleep on your couch for a month, there are to many emotional shards lying around. You did it acutely and completely. Actually Puc, I dated this guy for 4.5 years and I slept on the couch for 3 months...he had nowhere to go, his parents lived far away, and the person he was to eventually stay with couldnt get the place for a while....he got the bed cause I felt so guilty. Like I said, I know I made a mistake....I came back and had came back and rectified the situation. I'm not denying I did nothing wrong. For the record, I was not dishonest with my husband. He knew what was going on and what was going to happen. In all actuality, he and I were seperated. I left him for another man. Everyone in the situation knew what was going on. I left my husband and kids with the intent of never coming back. It was all a whirlwind occurance really. When things did not workout, for many reasons, I came back home. One thing I'm not proud of doing and won't make excuses for was sending links to some nude pics of a member and his wife to some people on here.
