How many of you on this board in there 30's feel as though life is only for the young? It was not so long ago that I had more phone numbers and dates than I knew what to do with. As you get older it seems as though its all downhill. I've always dated younger but feel as though that to may end as I just feel old. Mind you I look great just don't feel as confident as I once was as I grow older. I have my own business and ahve amde a name for myself in my line of work but feel as I grow old my life is spinning as its hard gettin old. Any wisdom form others on this? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm forty myself brother, and in a way I understand your lamenting. But truthfully, it's about learning more about yourself with each passing year so you can actually pursue the things that truly make you happy and feel "good" about yourself. Although I am divorced, I have three beautiful children, that aside from lifting and cycling......mean the world to me. And I've got a sweet lady that treats me like a King. Just go for what you want in life and don't sweat the age. delts ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Almost thirty three and can relate. It seems that we (I) get bored so much quicker and things are much less novel. I like the reservation in my life though, it is a confidence that I think when we are younger we seek but never think we will have. It's the old analogy, "if I knew then what I know now". Life can sometimes be very cruel. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Life starts ending after we are born. My feelings are that I feel younger now than at 24 and have so much more knowledge, patience, and wealth (wealth does count)at 41 that I feel I am blessed by this combination. I worked very hard to get here and would not trade any of my sacrifices. Life is good. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Guess it all makes sense. I partied hard and had much fun and broke many hearts in my 20's and early thirities. I loved the attention and the free drinks. (lol) Than things changed and some things became more important. I love security and the knowledge just guess at times i am jealous of the younger ones who seem to ahve all the real fun. but tthan agaian they ahve 15 roomates, don't pay bills, and put on false security of themselves. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am 25. One of my best friends is 36. He is phenomenally wealthy - close to 100million dollars. (He owns a lot of commercial real estate and developed software for insurance companies.) I don't know if it is because of the money, but despite the 11 year age difference, we act the same. Age doesn't show in his life...it seems he was always working too hard to realize he had gotten older. The moral there is: Age is in your mind. It means whatever you let it mean. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Youth is strictly defined by mental attitude. If you see yourself as old, then you're old. If you see yourself as young, then the same priciple applies. I'm not talking about mid-life crises...I'm talking about your natural inclinations. If you can't get a little crazy from time to time, then you need to relax more. Let it all hang out and loosen up! All too often I see older men deciding to get sports cars and getting divorced from their wives to marry younger women---all the while wishing they were younger and wasting their precious years. I've always been able to cut loose and party hard when the time is right. It's a great thing to do to keep your mind on the now rather than on the past. Age should bring about a sense of responsibility...not a sense of dread and seriousness. Keep your mind young and your body will follow...I promise. After all, most of my friends who are the same age have gray hair. I don't. I guess I just never grew up in terms of settling down and going with the flow. I still buck the norm whenever it's possible. Maybe it has to do with my getting cancer a few years ago. Nothing really gets to me anymore. Sure, I'm human and still get mad sometimes, but I just don't let things bother me to the same degree as when I was younger. I usually make a joke out of everything. It just makes life more pleasant. Life ends when you want it to. Besides, I plan on being a cool grandad who knows what all the lingo of the latest generation means. Uptightness is for the birds. Life is meant to be fun and free. Enjoy it...and never accept what societal norms dictate. Be safe, be fun and be yourself. ![]() ![]() ![]()

It all depends on how you look at things from the big picture. If you are healthy, active and not sick then no way is your life over at 36. Keep living!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm with ya brother! I'm 38 and physically feel great but I definetely notice a change in my success (or lack there of) in relations with the opposite sex. It used to be near effortless to find a date but now, still being attracted to younger women, it's a whole new ball game. It sucks. I sometimes feel like life has past me by and I feel extremely envious of younger guys. It all comes down to how good you feel about yourself. If you feel great, your self- confidence shows and women pick that up as a possitive trait. If not....well, let's just say you'll be renting alot of movies by yourself. I personnally have a shitty self image which is tough to break. The battle goes on. Just remember, your not alone. It was good to see your post. Good luck! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've not hit 36 yet. I have a few years before I do, but I think the numbers don't really matter. Why? I think you have to look at it from the inside out.....how you feel, how you act, and yes, how you look, too. I don't feel my age and actually feel much younger than what I am. I think it's good when you can say this and you're over 30! ![]() ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Read "Passages". I believe the author is Gail Sheehey. Highly recommended. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm 35 and have never been in better shape, mentally, physically, and financially. I hear what you're saying though, and sometimes guys wish they could hold on little longer. I look around at what I have and what I achieved, and am so thankful. I wouldn't go back for anything. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()

Age is merely a number that society uses to judge progress...I love being 31 and would not pay to be in my 20's ever...they were the 2nd worst years of my life next to my teens. Life just gets better and better. The only downside of being my age is when I am judged by others based on the numerical value of my age. Im smarter, more educated, wiser, and in the opinion of some, better looking than I was 12 years ago. I dont even care that I have some laugh lines cause I had a 20 year old guy hit on me on Saturday....doenst get any damn better than that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree that age is a number, but when your body starts to betray you, (doesn't heal as fast, get's injured more often, and so on) you begin to feel betrayed. The only thing on me that gives my age away is the gray hair poking out. But internally I know the that my body is betraying me and it is pissing me off. I still feel young and look young and act even younger. It is just hard accepting the fact that one day, I will no longer be alive. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well turning 45 in July does have some impact on my sense of reality. My parents are getting old, and it reminds me of my own mortality. When we were in our 20's we feel that we can do anything within our abilities. When you get into your 30's you notice the aging process and from there it goes down hill. At least that has been my experience. I still I can't change that fact, but by working out Confidence comes with experience, it is not something you automatically get. If you feel inconfident at times don't let it get you down. Revel in the facts of what you have done in the past of your life. It does not get any better than that. Good luck bro. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've always felt that life is over at death, which can come at any time - so I live each day to my own personal definition of its fullest. as long as I'm happy at the moment, then I could die now and say I died happy. that and older chicks are hot. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() |
