Just found out today that they aren't even going to be testing for steroids. They're also encouraging player/cheerleader relationships.

The more I hear about it, the more I like it.

You mean athletes do steroids? Didn't that kill Lyle Alzado?

Well it was not worth $50,000 a year for me to quit my job, but the bonus cheerleader plan may be.

The league average is $40,000 plus incentives. That's not that bad for a few months of work. I guess they have a really shitty medical package though. Plus I'm sure most of them will be going back to their normal jobs on the offseason.

I saw on a TV report last night that the games were supposed to be staged...Any truth to that? As in the scores will be fixed like wrestling??

I can see the possiblity of the games getting fix by book makes if Vegas starts putting odds on the games due to the low pay. however I do not think at this time it will be staged like mat dancing is.

I think it'll be good. The CFL, NFL Europe, and arena football pretty much sux. Maybe the XFL will be the "minor" league of football.

The games are legit. They have a $1000 bet limit on the XFL wagers in Vegas. It would not be on the books if the games were staged. There is $1000 limit to prevent anyone fixing the games. Normal NFL wagers go all the way up to $20,000 on the Vegas books. The fact that the games are even in the books in Vegas, adds credibility to the league.

40,000/yr and incentives isnt bad at all for a semi pro football league. even if your on a team and dont hit your incentive bonus your still bringin in 40,000 for not that long of a season. go get a job after, even if your only bringin in say 30,000 per yr doin somethin else your still combining the two t obring in 70,000 per year which isnt bad at all in my book, plus maybe a couple wild nights on the town with the cheerleader or two. sounds like a god deal ,no?

Thermo,
They're getting paid to play, so it is professional football not semi-pro. I play semi-pro here in California and we don't get paid, there's no insurance, we pay for our own pads. To play semi-pro, you truly have to love the game!

I think this will be intresting,,, but I think that a lot of guys are going to wind up getting hurt with the rules they have. I don't know if this part is even true or not but I heard that they are encourageing guys to body slam their opponents if they have the chance,,, but that could be just a rumor.

Someone give me a little feedback on what this new XFL is all about? Is it related to wrestling?

Im telling you man, it is impossible to get away with staging a football game...you can tell in wrestling that the punches are fake...people wont be tackled or obviously miss key tackles on purpose b/c if people start to see through it as fake, noone will watch fake football, besides there are some guys (Rashaan Salaam, Rashaan Shee-hee) amongst others who are ex-NFL players who want to use this league to get back into the NFL like NFL Europe, if they stage games, they will be banned from NFL competition b/c Las Vegas is putting lines on the games...thats it Im done

Fake hits no---Quarterback throwing interceptions --Yes---fumbles yes----dropped passes yes----refs throwing flags anytime yes---Football is very easy to stage! With these rules it wont last long---guys will be getting killed-------Mcmahon has a rep. of not caring about his wrestlers---he certainly wont care about his football players-----If this thing last 2 years ---It will be played by 260 pound fat guys that work for ups---All the bros that are all juiced out wont last 6 games----
