Friday, I'm going with my girlfriend to her brother's trial on sexual assault charges. His ex girlfriend said he came over to her house one night last summer, they drank, she had been smoking weed and popping pills all day, then he allegedly sexually assaulted her. He has been in trouble with the law in the past, so that will definitely hurt him really bad. However, this girl has charged 2 other guys with the same crime in the past and dropped the charges right before the trial both times. If he gets convicted, he will go away for a long time. This should be a very emotional day. Anyone ever been to one of these kinds of trials?    | ||

I've never been to court, but Mark Chamura [sp?] is being charged with sexual assault. Thats on court tv, so I catch a little of that trial from time to time. Good luck to your girl's brother if he didn't do it. ------------------  | ||

exact same thing happened to my old drummer with his ex whore of a GF...she dropped the charges after she found out a bunch of us were going to turn her into mincemeat....she was a known liar and attention seeker and this guy was the biggest wimp you could ever meet. | ||

yes, i have been called to jury duty as often as they can call me. i don't know if jury duty counts. to anybody who is reading this, IT IS TORTURE!!!!!! | ||

He maintains that he did'nt do it, but his rap sheet is going to hurt him. If he did do it, I believe he should be punished, but they are thinking that the girl won't even show up to testify. I really hope she is lying and I'm going there to support my girlfriend. It's kind of hard to believe that the same girl could allegedly have this happen to her 3 times... | ||

Yes, I have worked on a few cases similar to this. They are never pretty -- for either party involved. If this does to court it will be very graphic, very detailed, and it will drag each of them through the mud. I am sorry he has to deal with this. If she doesn't show he should talk to the DA. She's abusing the court system, using false accusations to hurt others, and that's just as illegal as what she's acusing him of. If she's truely filed false charges three times she could be the one in trouble. | ||

I don't know about in the US but in Canada there is the Rape Shield Law in which a woman's previous sexual history cannot be used against her in court. I wonder if this can even be brought up in court there. I hope all works out in the end whether he gets off for being innocent or gets slammed for being guilty. Sex offenders-and that's what he will be-are not treated so well in the system be it in the US or Canada! | ||

Why take the chance on going to jail in the first place. If I didn't do it, trust me the girl would never show up in court. To answer the question, yes I've been to court a few times. Got really fucked over once. | ||

with a name like yakuza that isn't suprising. i think we have a rape shield law. not sure though. but i remember reading about how some chess champions son was in trouble because he raped a woman. but the shield law hid the fact that the woman was a masochist and that he probably thought that they were play acting a rape when it happened. don't know what happened to them. | ||

Courtroom trial? Yeah, a couple of hundred I guess...hardest part is staying awake after lunch. |
