Think about it... you're sitting in the sunshine one afternoon and all the sudden the sun stops producing light. You look at your watch see that the "time" is 1:30PM. Did the sun stop working at 1:30Pm?? No!!!! In reality (space time) it stopped working at 1:22PM. Therefore the stars we see at night are an old version of the universe which is expanding everyday.

yeah, okay - let me guess - you've never taken any level of physics or astronomy have you? Chemistry might be a good one too - learn about how those things called "atoms" relate to you if it doesn't fry your cortex and then get back to me.

All that aside. Let's say there is a God. Let's say I beleive in God. Now let's go down my hall here in my apartment building. I knock on my neighbor's door. The man that answers is Chinese, is his God the same as my God? What if the guy was American Indian and beleived in multiple deities... one for Wind and Fire, etc, etc. Then are any of those MY God? And if not - who are they, and why does my religion ignore them and the Chinese dude's God (I am aware that there are names for these - but I'm playing your game).

If you believe in a God, fantastic. But realize that it is a futile, self absorbed and juvanile outlook on the world. Just as early humans as recently as a few hundred years ago beleived that the Sun and Stars revolved around the Earth - not everything here is made to serve Man. It is just here. As are we.
Hell, maybe there is a God. But he doesn't care about us. His main species is viruses (virii?). Notice how they outnumber us, can kill us, we can't beat them. How do we know that we aren't just put on earth so as to satisfy their existance - just as some dipshits here think the rest of the animals are on earth as some way relavent to us (we gots ta eat dem animals, they are put here for us by Gawd. Such questions as...

"what existed prior to the universe?" and

"what would exist after the destruction of the universe?"

point to the absolute uncertainty of how the universe came to be. Many people insert a divine being at this point.

Once we assume the existence of the universe from our everyday perceptions and the scientific links between our thoughts and external reality, the question is how did life begin to exist.

Was it a sudden development of chemicals into a life form, that gradually through "survival of the fittest" that lead to human beings (discussing these questions on chat boards!). Or did this divine being we created to account for the universe touch that creation with life?

These questions inevitably lead to more questions that cannot be answered from a rational, logical standpoint.

I believe there is a divine being of some sort that created the universe and created life. The existence of this being cannot be proven by our logic and a priori truths.
