now i am sayin this knowin that some of u might have personal trainers.. but whats the point..??? they are way expensive.. and there is only so much they can teach u.. when i was in highschool there was a group of pansies that went to the gym they all had there lil PERSONAL trainers.. but the funny thing is when i would go in with my buddies.. we would out lift and out grow them on our own.. with no personal trainers.. so what is the point? guess some people need a lil guardian angel to push them to the limits cause they dont have the drive themselves.

Most people who have trainers are rich old woman that want a young muscle guy watching them.
Or maybe an older guy or woman that really dont know any better.

That is totally not true. I happen to have a trainer. The reason I do, is because I work-out at 4:30am and I can't get anyone else to work-out that early. I happen to be 6'1 220. 49"C 17"A. At least with a trainer you have someone to push you and spot you. I happen to have a very good trainer.

I think a lot of these people just have trouble motivating themselves(musclejock you are obviously an exception). Don't get me wrong, I work part-time in a fitness facility so I understand the importance of proper instruction when you are a novice. But for most that keep them any length of time it is just a social thing.

UNTRUE-I've owned my own PT company for over 3 yrs and have prepped many national level male and female athletes. All have placed in the top 3.I wasted 2 yrs of training without any help-then I got a trainer and I still use some of his ideas 9 yrs later.Go into any gym across the country and you will see MANY people who need help!! There are some very bad trainers out there too-just do your homework

When I first started working out I used a trainer four times to teach proper form on things like deadlift and squats.

TO bad the fucker did not teach good form. A waste of money. I am glad I retaught my self the proper way before I fucking hurt something or someone.

Hey hey now I am a trainer I am hurt by your posts I train a lot of women and some are older and overweight. These women were never athletes and never lifted a weight in their lives. They have no idea as far as technique and frequency etc. Their diets are so far off it is crazy. And I have trained some men too! Being a female trainer I dont train as many men. If I do its usally a social thing you could say. But people need motivation, they need someone to keep them held accountable. And it is consistent and dependable. Its not for everyone but it is a good thing as well. And I also have a trainer myself. I am training to compete and I need to lift heavy lbs and need his guidance and experience in the field of bodybuilding etc. ok done rantin

Bottom line is there are good trainers & then some of them really suck.My brother has his own training buissiness.People pay him good money cause he knows his shit & motivates the fuck out of them also. When some of these people are just coming into
trainig, nutrition & all that it really helps to spend a few dollars & learn the shit instead of fucking around forever & still not
knowing shit.I see too many people in the the gym just starting out that have no clue
what they are doing.

As has been said, there are good and bad trainers. If your goal is to get big and you feel you need help, look for a guy that's gotten there himself (or herself).

There was a small gym that I went to in Salisbury, MD that mostly was geared to personal service of middle-aged and older folks. The owner was a big guy and if I needed a trainer, I would have hired him personally (not any of the ladies he hired for the place). Why? Because he tailored his programs to what people wanted and he obviously knew a thing or two about putting on size.

When evaluating a trainer, first impressions can go a LONG way. Beyond that, look at their clients and then see what they have to say. We're all smart enough to know whether or not a particular personal trainer is full of it or not.

Just my $.02

The difference between involved and committed can best be explained using a bacon and egg breakfast as an example: The chicken is involved but the pig is committed.

Most elite athletes have trainers, to individualize the workouts.

A good trainer will push you harder - like a good lifting partner.
