I'm thinking of buying a computer from them tonight. Anybody gone through them, or have any ideas of a better place to buy from?? I'm thinking of buying the 700c model, with a printer and scanner for about $800..

Years ago I bought a desktop from them and it was a nightmare. The thing came broken, I sent it back, it came broken again. Then I called them to complain, and they had me on the phone forever doing system checks for them. They sent a new motherboard and told me it was very easy to put in. Unfortunately on the economy PCs all the components are jammed together so you have to take everything out to get to the motherboard. When I finally got the damn thing in, the motherboard still wasn't good. They sent another, same thing. I then returned the computer and got my money back. What a friggin waste of time!

and why the hell is their mascot a cow. Come on... you want your computer to be represented by an animal who is fierce and fast (cheetah) or reliable (elephant). All cow brings to mind is something that doesn't move and passes alot of gas.

I got a compaq laptop. Right now I'm on a Dell desktop, and have had no problem with it. The Dells are sorta pricey, but they are reliable and have good customer support. It really depends on if you want something that is expandable or not. Compaq is a good brand and has some integrated desktops that are not too expensive.

Check the Dells first though. My uncle is a computer tech and says they have the least problems.

Just went thru comparisons/purchase....found that I could get a lot more machine from Dell.

Although Gateway had more liberal terms.

Go someplace where they let you build your own, it is the cheapest and you learn something too. A good way to spend a Saturday

I got mine about $400 for the PC

a friend of mine bought a computer from gateway and the thing broke within a month, I did some research and from people and sites that I spoke and contacted they recommended staying away from both gateway and compaq, I ended up buying from dell and have been happy that I did.

I live in the town where Dell computers are made. They've got a great reputation here.
My brother works for Dell. He says they use higher grade parts designed for the corporate market.
Dell "refurbished" models are a great buy.
Usually they are recent models that some company bought and then returned unopened, but can't be sold as "new".
If you're going to buy thu the mail buy a Dell.
Otherwise buy something local to your area so you can get it easily serviced.
