My curiosity was aroused after reading TD's recent post re his lifting contest. I wonder how many of you have competed, where, how many times, at what level, class and what your placing was? Are there any of you who started preparations, but dropped out for one reason or another?

I have competed in 6 contests in 5 years. The last two were VA State. Best placing was 2nd out of 3 in heavyweight :/ . I have posted my competition pic here (or Johnny has posted them for me), I believe. If not, I can try to post it again.

My HS had a powerlifting team and I was on it. I competed in some PL meets in HS a couple after. I haven't competed in any since then. Unfornatately for there a kid on my team I keep getting second too. We were pretty even in the lifts but he always came in a couple of pound lifter than me. I became more focus on a bodybuilding than powerlifting I guess so maybe that's why I gave it up. ------------------

I'm here in Christchurch. Competed a few times with the NZFBB at local and Nationals. I've always placed first in my BB class, but that's just because I'm a chick and this is a small country so the competition's not too tough. Never withdrawn for any reason. So why do you ask? Just curiosity? Or will we see you on stage some time soon!

Well, mainly I'm curious just to find out how many out of the hundreds who come to this board have competed. I would like to compete and have the diet and discipline pretty well sussed, but don't know if i would have the confidence to get up on stage, esp in a g-string. By the time i get round to it, I'll probably be in the over eighties category, if there is such a thing. I know quite a few people who went to Christchurch to qualify for the nationals in Wellington last year (November, I think). Guest poser at Wellington was the one and only Ronnie Coleman, just fresh from Mr Olympia. Unfortunately the show was so long that he did not get on to the stage until about 1 in the morning. A big "kia ora" to you and SMASHNZ

I have competed in eight bodybuilding shows over the past five years -- 2 local, 2 State, 3 regional, and 1 nationwide. My worst placing thus far has been 4th (out of 28) in my weight class -- that took place at the nationwide show. ------------------ Because I want to . . . Because I have to . . . Because I need to . . . Because I can!

Oh yeah, I'm sorry I missed big Ronnie this year. I was outta the country for the nationals Ya know kiwi, if you compete in the NZFBB instead of NABBA you're not even ALLOWED to wear a g-string. It makes it just a little less scary for your first time on stage nearly naked! Good luck and hope to see you on stage before your 80th B-day. |
