Yesterday for me was legs day.... so I go to the gym and warm up; stretches followed by a few light squats.

A couple of guys come to the squat stand next to me and throw on a couple of plates. Now when I trainI am very foccused, the only time I speak to people is when I am asking for a spot or maybe saying hello.

Anyway, I begin my first set, relatively light 100kgs (I think about 220lbs). Now I am fro the school of deep squats, I believe that so-called 'half squats' don't work the muscles so well.

At this point the two guys next to me throw on the same weight as myself (these guys were not particually big... fat middle aged men. I could'nt help but notice after a while that they were doing more like 1/4 squats and even then only for about 7! So what the fuck I think.

So, anyway after a while I jump to my peak weight 160kgs (about 340lbs). Now bear in mind I do deep squats and at this weight I prefer to have a spotter.

I manage 8 reps. Now these to dickheads load up their bar and I swear I could'nt believe it. They were not even squating. I mean they were sticking theit asses out about 3-4 inches.

I just think what the hell was the point of that? I mean who were they trying to impress? Instead they just make themselves look like fools.

It's not the first time I've seen people in my gym 'squat' like this!

I don't care how much muscle / strength people have, to me dedication and technique is everything. When I started i could barley bench 40 kgs! (I was 14).

I am alone in thinking that working out like this is just such a pointless waste of time? I've seen people do shit like that bench pressing, swinging there barbells when curling... why?

I'd say about 80% of people in gyms or ignorant of form and technique. I find it best to do my workout, ignore them, and leave

Of course when they want to give me advice...I try to smile and shrug it off...untill they press the issue...at that pont I am forced to shove thier ignorance in their face....hey they put me into this situation

YOU GOTTA LOVE THESE DUDES!!!!!!

The ones I hate are the ones who load the bar up too heavy when trying to do shrugs. They start bouncing their heels, bending their knees, ducking their heads, all the while their shoulders move 1/4th inch. You watch them and it is like their whole body is convulsing.

Just get on with your business--these are the same guys at work that will ask you how much you squat and they reply with the same and more weight and then you tell them but I bury the weight. They will say ha me to, I go right to the floor. These are the same guys that are on the bench with their backs arched so bad you could drive a bus through. They will get that big bounce and like 2-3 reps with like 275 if their lucky and then strut around the gym like their all that---These guys crack me up---stay away from them and if they dont have the ability to look at a decent size guy and see how ones form is done then fuck them----

A guy at our gym had such appalling technique it was quite comical to watch him work out. He never isolated the muscle group he was working because he was jerking every other part of his body. Often people would come up to me and snigger about his style. He carried on like that for months and I felt sorry for him, as he turned out to be a nice guy. I wanted to say something to him, but felt that it was up to the gym staff, not me. One day, somebody came and made a derogatory comment to me about that "dumbass over there". So I went up to him, and told him he was wasting his time because he was not isolating the group he was working. He asked how he could change things, so I went through all his routines with him. End result was that he was very grateful. However most people don't like to be told what to do, so that's the only time I've done it. But I see bad form every day.
