When you put plates onto a barbell. Do you put the writings facin in or out? I usually put them facing in. My g/f notice that today at the gym because she was just putting them on any which way. I told her to put them facing in. She was like, whats the difference? I told her its better. What is the difference??? ------------------

I always face them in, I hate that little noise when two faces (side with writings)come together and you here the air come out.

plates? wow, you guys are strong. those must be those heavy things scattered around the gym. they are frequently in the way of my pink, rubber coated weights and machines. I have to ask some huuuyge guy to move them for me. hee hee. ------------------

facing in, all plates must match also. you know how they have the deep set plates or flat ones, well they gotta match if theyre go'n on my bar.

i'll agree this is a pretty dumb observation but a necessary one. this is not some freak phenomenon...it's because when the plate is facing in, the lip of the plate is in a position such that it's easier to pull of the bar and carry back. if it was facing out, you wouldn't have anything to grip

i always have the writing facing in, and I only use one bar for all my lifts, I dont know why, but I just cant lift as much with a different bar ------------------

the plates have to face in and be the same (roughly) type plate. no thin and fat ones, unless they are balanced on both sides. (even ratio) ps...the only ones who have the writing facing out are those who REALLY want people to see how much they are lifting. hehe. you know those guys. ------------------

letters ALWAYS face in, ALWAYS. only amatuers do it letters out. think about it!! it's the easiest and most intuitive thing about weightlifting, DUH!!!!! ------------------

Could it be because when you pull a plate off the rack it's facing out, you slide it on the bar facing in. JUST ANOTHER DUMB OBSERVATION!!! ------------------

GOTTA be face in. ABSOLUTELY has to be face in. I said, TURN THAT FUCKING PLATE FACE IN. Sorry, I am superstitous as hell when it comes to the weights. ------------------

I usually don't care if they face in or out but I am really picky about all the weights being the same kind, either thin or thick (usually thin) and they all have to face either in or out. I'll probably starting facing them all in now seeing as that seems to be the popular method.
