of course there's no answer...if you want to know what the director or screenwriter thought, you'd have to ask them. it had me confused at first. but then i realised - when Edward Norton turned the gun on himself, he committed to his first truly self-destructive action... i remembered what they were talking about in the middle of the movie "self-improvement - that's just masturbation...self-destruction...now that's the shit" etc... the bullet actually comes out the back side of his jaw...what's important is that it doesn't kill him. just my opinion, of course. a friend of mine thought he had a 'rogue bit of brain' which got shot out, and therefore Tyler died when he shot himself. but he's a moron

ooooooohhhhhhh.... ok.... thats true now that i think about it. But the whole Tyler thing is weird how just all of a sudden he starts actin like that ? he comes from no where? then leaves.....guess only the director could explain all this

i actually felt dumber after seeing that movie ------------------ "Pain, is just weakness leaving your body" "...damn you for not giving my TEST" - Metallica "After this show i'll be fat and happy again.....If i make it to the show...." - Lee Priest "Lets put some weight on the bar.." - Shawn Ray "IT DOESN'T MATTER" - The Rock "Intensity builds immensity" - Kevin Levrone

It's a great movie, Havoc just doesn't want to confront his dark side. LMAO!!! Get the DVD and listen to the Directors commentary version. That may help. ------------------

it made sense to me... if u watch the movie closely, u will see Tyler subliminally showing up like the picture of a cock he was talking about, they do it with tyler its very intersting once u figure it out teh guy was just schizophrenic, it happens. everything he did, could be done by one man alone. ------------------

Wodin is right, it was a bunch of crap. I liked the concept of mass chaotic disorder, but the personality split thing was too much and chasing yourself around on airplane trips was overkill.

I was actually a little disappointed. I can understand why people would follow Brad Pitt around, but Ed Norton? who would follow some guy who fights with himself?? Thats just fucked....though when it was first over I was blown away..after thinking about it I thought it was kinda dumb.

quote: that movie was a bunch of typical propaganda crap that something like MTV would sponser it's good and all until he "converts" back to normal society. f#ck that bullshit. it doesnt happen that way. racism is in the blood, ------------------

So you doubt the ability of people to change their opinions and perceptions about certain things? To me his change of heart in the movie came from his love and devotion for his brother. His change was the result of a higher value in that concern for his brother's life was more important than his racist ways. I think you're way off base....JMHO

No offense, but "racism is in the blood" is about THE STUPIDEST F*CKING THING I'VE EVER SEEN WRITTEN ON THIS BOARD...that's like saying liking an author, or a color of hair, etc., etc. is "in the blood..." ------------------

Confusing at the end, dont' think it was made to be completely figured out. The movie (tyler) gives you clues, but doesn't tell you exactly how to do it. I did learn quite a bit from it. If you were to actually listen to Tyler's advice, you would be fearless (and probably dead). I like the idea of commiting yourself, which the movie shows, like the kid who stands on the stairs to earn respect. "Shatner, I'd fight William Shatner", lol

i don't think racism is in the blood, but i don't think racism (real racism, the kind people do and experience daily) has anything to do with neo nazis or klans.

I disagree, You obviously don't understand the meaning of true racism. It is much different than harboring resentment or dislike of a certain type of person, etc A true racist will never change, and I stick to that. He wasnt a true racist, the movie proved that. He was a bi-product of a society that has no morals. His father was killed by a black man while on firefighting duty. Hence, RESENTMENT/. if he was racist, he would have already felt that way, but they showed him disagreeing with his fathers racist sentiment get it? im not a fucking idiot. everyone has a right to h is own opinoin ------------------

Then why do you think it was bullshit that he changed at the end of the movie?-if it was resentment instead of racisim then isn't beliveable that he could "convert".
Elite Bodybuilder Posts: 734 |
racism is about conformity. people are by nature conformist and intolerant to dissident within their group. If you tell people that white & black are opposites then racism will continue to exist, whether klan marches happen or not. I am a racist, and most of the white people i know are racist. we don't burn crosses, but we freeze up when we see someone black. 200,000,000 white people freezing up everytime they see someone black is the main reason for racial profiling, taxi drive bys, security camera harassment, etc. all the stuff that bothers black people. We condemn cross burning then lock our car doors when black people walk by. that is what is behind modern racism. the attitudes of american history X are long gone.
