not a big giants fan, but i must say i'm kinda' happy to see them win. they got absolutely no respect all year...everyone kept harping about how they hadn't beaten any good teams, etc. now here they are in the super bowl. ummm...what odds could we have gotten on a super bowl qb matchup of trent dilfer and kerry collins??? | ||

Runner, I hear you...and you have a point. The Giants are easily the most un-glamorous team in the playoffs. The Rams and Vikings have better athletes and all the marquee names, and in the AFC, the Titans have George and Kearse, and Indianapolis has the "big 3" on offense. The Ravens, however, have the best defense in NFL history. No team has given up fewer points per game than this year's Ravens, and offenses/athletes are better now than they have ever been. It would be wrong to label them as weak, or to call a Giants victory over them a weak Super Bowl. No team ever has done what they have defensively. Now back to Big Blue. They are the epitome of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts". Future Hall of Famers: Strahan, possibly Armstead...and on the other side, Ray Lewis. In football and basketball, they say "Defense wins championships". In baseball, the equivalent is, "good pitching beats good hitting". In other words, in any sport, it is the unglamorous part of the game that determines the winner. (Ask the Rams). Daunte Culpepper, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, the Redskins, Warren Sapp, Marshall Faulk, Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, Jevon Kearse, Eddie George, Steve McNair...those guys are stars...certainly the Giants cannot match the talent of any of those guys...and I'm sure each of them will have the game on their big screen TVs. Which means they will have the same view I do. Go big blue. | ||

I am a huge giant fan and that aside look for the game to be won by trent Dilfer making mistakes. Guarantee this to happen. Also i don't think it will be low scoring and the Gaints are not 1 demensional and have many different attack patterns. raverns have an awesome defense but have not faced a team like the Gaints who also have great special teams. ravens are big boys who will tire easy as they are not used to being on the field. flexed1 says 27-13 Giants | ||

any of you guys hear the rumor (and I stress it's a rumor!!!) that the Giants had tapped into the vikings headsets??? I'm assuming it's false but that would explain why the Giants shut out the vikings offense. makes you think. | ||

sx - Hard to say about that headset thing. The 14-0 lead really makes the theory look suspect. Also, it wasn't headset tapping that cause Randy Moss's sissy ass to break off a crossing pattern, which led to an interception.....and it wasn't headset tapping when the ball intended for Carter was simply taken from him in the end zone. I would blame the vikings 28th ranked defense for the performance. Super Bowl bound. | ||

i heard that story on the sports talk show yesterday...they said it was reported in the toronto paper and it was alleged that the giants did the same thing against the eagles. i may try to find the story online and provide a link... | ||
