Depends on the amount and your goals. I have 4 Cd's but none were over 10,000 when I started. How much do you have to invest if you dont mind, email me if you want. ------------------

well thats just it. I apparently have 1000.00 extra per month after all my bills are paid but I find I always seem to spend all my paycheck and end up with little or nothing..... But im sure if I had to I could put away half of that per month. ------------------

The trick is to never get your hands on it in the first place. My company electronically sends a set amount each month to a seperate account. I never see it, so I learn to live without it.

First, get involved in your company's 401k, contribute the MINIMUM percentage needed to get the full employer match. With the leftover money, invest in a Roth IRA. Get several mutual funds. You're young so I would suggest a few technology and electronics sector funds comprising about 50 percent of your mutual fund portfolio. Split the remaining 50 percent into a blue chip growth fund and small-cap growth fund. At your age, your wasting your money in CDs, bonds, money markets, etc. ------------------

Hehehe...he doesn't have a 401K. He's in Canada. Closest equivalent is the RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan), which was the topic of his post. Just a bit of Canadian trivia for you bro's! |
