Ok here goes: I don't want to get any bigger. That's right. I'm going to get smaller now. Yes, you heard me. SMALLER.... About a month ago I was 270lbs, with pretty low bf. I could still see some abs, but they were under some junk. I wasn't RAZOR SHARP at all. BUT....most of my clothes didn't fit, and I just felt like crap all the time. Pants that had fit were too small, my neck was too big for my shirts....my shoulders were too wide for any jacket I could find....and I was just in bad shape....despite being (all things considered) pretty lean. Not only that, but my whole body was banged up - all my joints and everything, from the years of training....Those of you that have trained for a long time know the pain I mean. Shoulders, knees, back, hips...I mean - no more: the experiment is over. I want to be lighter and quicker again. I was playing basketball with my brothers (both played college also..d-3 though) the other day, and I could still dunk, still move, but - for the first time in my life - did not FEEL athletic. So lighter I get. I don't want to be 205 again, like I was in college...no way...but 240-245 with very low bf would be nice.....I've lost 10 pounds the last 6 weeks....and I feel better already. Any comments?

Start eating less. You don't need those 6,000-7,000 calories anymore, and I'm sure that you didn't just LOVE shoving them down your throat when you were trying to grow. They say: "Eat for what you want to be, not for what you are." So start eating like you want to be 240lbs. -Warik

I know man. My arm would go to sleep at night if I put it under my pill when I was that big. I could not eat noodles with tomato paste and seasoning at night before bed, because I would get heartburn. Sometime breathing heavy. Normally hot, but that was because of the cycles I think. High blood pressure and more. I am sure it was not good for me, but for some reason I feel like doing it again.

Matt, I'm only 233 right now, and I'm starting to feel kinda big. I can only imagine what you're going through @ 270lbs.

6'2" 245 would not be small at all bro. Most NFL linebackers are that size and you would look a lot better then they would since you are cutting down and losing fat I assume. Everybody needs to keep it in perspective. ------------------

man, i hit 249 and i felt like my body was broken... all the joints, couldnt walk right (i think it was tendonitis)... anyway, your gonna have to kick up the cardio, but one question... are you looking to actually LOSE some muscle tissue too?

MB...not really looking to lose muscle - worked too hard to put it there...just want to adjust my training and see what happens. I've started doing cardio though and I have lost some weight....I just want to feel better.

You must now turn in your moderators badge and move on to the anorexic fitness board. I hear they have an opening for a new mod...lol. Seriously I was wondering when this would come up on the board. There has got to come a time when one says enough is enough. Enough drugs, enough pain, etc. etc. You should post some before and after pics!!!

6'2" 245 isn't small at all. Alot of players in the NHL also weigh in around there if not a little less, but they're tanks. Philly picked up a guy that weighs around what you want to and he throws people around w/o using his legs. I don't know if ya like hockey, but its kinda along the same lines as what superdave said. Seeing as how I'm not supposed to be any taller than 5'10-5'11 my goal is to get to be about 210-220 at 6-8% one day. Good luck cutting down. ------------------

I know a guy who did that...he looks even better smaller because hes small boned ..still pretty big compared to your average BB, but he says his joints thank him now.

I hear you man...when I was weighing in at 250 in high school I was probably a little stronger but had awful shin splints...I feel alot better at around 235...

Matt, I hear ya man. At 35, I can feel things hurting. Joints and stuff. Of course, I'm lighter than I used to be in my 20's. And it is nice not carrying all that around anymore. I'm happy just being shredded. All the hot soccer moms on my block seem to be appreciative. So it's all good. But I know exactly what you mean. Feel good bro! ------------------

Matty.....your not a blastphemer (sp).....I actually had to lose mass to decrease the impact on my bones, increase performance, etc for running long distances.......bottom line is you need to adapt your body for the activity you intead to participate in....bigger is not the best physic for certain sports.....ie...baseball, running, etc [This message has been edited by AGENT SHAGWELL (edited January 10, 2001).]

Nice to see some people out there understand what I am doing. The size gaining lifestyle was an experiement I did after I finished college and wasn't playing basketball anymore...I got into weights and I liked the challenge...I liked to see the numbers on the bar (and on the scale) go up..... But after a few years, I have had nothing but pain, and trouble finding clothes that fit. So now I am changing the program to more cardio, and maintenace with the weights. We'll see how it goes. It's been fun so far. I already feel better. |
