i listen to my body, and won't train at all if i'm feeling ill. just get better, and you'll rebound right back!!

Take a break bro. If your not going to give 110% then don't go.

Don't do it when you're sick. You could get hurt.

I just got finished with the flu and I was down for about 5-6 days. I missed a week's worth of lifting and ate probably at most 500 calories a day. All told I lost about what you did - 8 lbs. It sucks but it's part of life and don't force yourself into the gym until you're at least 90%. It may take you a couple of weeks to put all the weight back on but what can you do?

I have to lift when sick unless it is REALLY bad. the other choice is to make up the lift meaning two days in a row on a three day a week program=very bad. I had to do it about three weeks ago but fortunately, it was a light workout without cardio and it called for only using about 65 percent of my maxes.
