It means mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Its the blueprints that are given to you by the engineer or whoever draws up you building. Its for the structural supports and all that goes with that, the a/c plans, lighting. Everything.Hope this helps. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

M.E.P. Mean Effective Pressure I don't think rdhdfmn is right, since mechanical is compromised of both h.v.a.c. and plumbing, so its redudant to say Mech. Electric and plumbing. ------------------ Visit my website and learn how to live! rubberburner.com ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

MEP stands for Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing. In the AEC industry, these three disciplines are responsible for most of the building design in const. The other disciplines involved are usually architectural and civil. An earlier post stated that mechanical and plumbing were redundant, but mechanical is responsible for HVAC design, and plumbing is responsible for piping and the fire protection systems required in all building. Depends on in what context you saw these letters. If it was on a set of plans, then it refers to the disciplines involved. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Additionally, if you will look on a cover sheet of a set of plans, the plumbing sheets will have a different set of numbers separate from mechanical, since those two systems will usually be constructed at different times. I also failed to mention structural (sorry guys).
