one of my best friends came out to me, about 3 months after he told all the other friends, he was worried about my reaction... took me a week and then i just had more shit to make fun of him for... it took him 8 years to tell me!!! your bro would go nuts if he held it that long, let him be him... just try and not think of him holding another guys hand or talking cute and shit... | ||

I dont understand why people feel the need to "fess up" to their families when they are gay! I mean, if your NOT gay, you dont go to them & say "Mom & Dad, I'm not gay"' or "Mom & Dad, I enjoy getting sexual pleasure from the opposite sex", so why do they have to be informed when it comes to gay lifestyles?? I'm not gay, but I have a cousin who is & she just kinda let everyone find out for themselves, which I think was the right move considering it is HER life & NOONES fucking business what side she likes getting it from IMO. I think the whole "gotta tell Mom & Dad" thing is probably a big indicator that the parents will have a hard time dealing with it. In that case it all comes down to them being embarassed of their kid, or are worried about what other people will think of THEM now or their kid. It has nothing to do with how they feel about a certain lifestyle, but how them think their peers will see THEM now!! | ||

Hey dude, having your brother tell you he is gay, was probably one of the most diffucult things he's ever done. No matter how close a gay person is with their family, until its on the table and upfront the insecurty and possiblity of familial rejection is genuinely horrific. One of my close friends died for AIDS complicatioins. When he finally told them he was gay and sick, his parents rejected him and refused to be at his bed side when he died. Every gay man or woman, has an absolute horror of being rejected by their family when they tell them they are gay. Your brother has balls. A lot of gay people are too afraid to face that possible prospect and never tell their families. Hey Roiddog, the reason it is so important tell your family, is simply because a gay person has to get past the insecurity of rejection. And in those horrible instances when a gay person is rejected by his parent, he then has to creat a new circle of freinds who become his real "adopted family".
