A short time ago I was discussing with some from the board about my dsl being expensive to set up and that my house was wired all digital. Here is the scoop. I have fiber optic all the way to the house, from the network box (amp box) in the utility room to the outlets it is standard copper wiring. The signal for the tv, and computer are delivered over the network via a cat 5 line (RJ-45 cable, the type that plugs into an ether card) This line is routed to a gateway box that separates the video/audio signal from the online signal. From the gateway box you then have a choice for standard cable to tv for audio or video or using video or s-video for the video signal and separate audio jacks for the sound. You also have the option of digital audio for the music channels. The online service portion comes from the gateway box output (RJ-45 cable) plugs into the wall through the RJ-45 connector and then is routed through the house anywhere I have the RJ-45 outlet. I then run the RJ-45 cable from the appropriate outlet to the ether card in my computer and I am online. I have a 1 meg bandwidth and they are going to be increasing that this spring. My home service is practically as fast as what I had at Boeing. | ||

Sure, come on over, that is if you don't mind hanging out in Phoenix. You will love it when they go fiber optic. We are only one of two or three developments that are fully digital in AZ.
