Just wondering who your favourite bodybuilders were. My I like Bill Pearl for his imcredible size at the time, and a vegetarian like me too For pure crazyness In Diet Johnny Fuller, and crazyness in training Tom Platz ------------------

My favorite bodybuilders of all time are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu. I also love Serge Nubret, Sergio Oliva, Robby Robinson, Dareem Charles and Shawn Ray. The best of all time is Shawn Ray! Bodybuilders from the 70's had the best bodies and I'm not saying this because I'm old since I'm only 20. ------------------

Arnold was obviously a great one. His personality and great size for his time made him famous. Vic Richards was a fucking FREAK though, so he gets my vote.

I don't know how anyone can admire the physiques of todays pros. I don't even keep up to date with the pro BB scene anymore. All the nice looking athletes like Flex, Rae, and Priest get screwed over by the mass monsters. 42" waist with abs?! Jean-Pierre Fux, and Paul Dillet are terrible eyesores to todays bodybuilding scene. I hope no-one actually wants to attain a physique like that. I get a kick out of the younger newbies want to lift and look like big poppa pump or markus rhul. Heading towards sure dissapointment and a bad physique. I just think that old time (arnol era) bodybuilders had much better physiques, ones also which are attainable. My opinions only, no hard feelings. ------------------

Just looking at the cover of the last MuscleMag and there was Arnold. Simply awsome. The body looked so much better than the pros of today. Also Lee Haney was pretty damn close.
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 70 |
Arnold, of course. Would expect anybody else? You can't compare today's bodybuilders to the pros of the past. Today's pros do way more stuff than in the past.

O.K. #1 our time Flex by FAR he has the best muscle bellies porportion and one of the smallest waist. And up until recently he never had the GH gut. #1 back in the day Sergio i cannot believe how ripped he was able to get without most of the AS we have today and one of the smallest waists. I know a lot of you said Arnold i think he was good BUT has anyone else noticed his rib cage. It sticks out soooo far it looks dumb, maybe it is just me but i don't like it at all. #2 for our day Shawn Ray!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by G-Man (edited December 24, 2000).] [This message has been edited by conan69 (edited December 26, 2000).]

Arnold is in a class of his own. He could or could not (we don't know) beat the hell out of Coleman. Arnold is very unpredictable. But Sergio Oliva, everytime seeing some of his pics from 25-30 years ago, my god, he was very close to the best guys now. Give him what Coleman takes and he would be Mr. O. As for pics: http://www.bodybuilder.org/chat/list.php3?num=8

My hometown guy is Jay Cutler, but the best of all time is definately Arnold. Nobody here liked the Incredible Hulk?? ------------------

All-Time, Arnold is the man. Today, Lee Priest, But he'll never get the respect he deserves.

It has to be arnold, flex wheeler, bob paris. Symmetrical muscular development! They got the fantastic genes that gave them the edge.
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 52 |
Bob Paris we all know where he got his protein from lol......one more of the MYTH,got shot in the stomach years ago by his O'lady for messin' around.....

come on Arnold Schwarzenegger is the man espically in conan
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 63 |
Not sure but I think he was shot twice. Once by his wife and once while walking his beat (he was a cop). There is an interview with him in an Old musclemag. Article gave me a whole new respect for him. The Myth was also the only bodybuilder in his day to hold a full time job while training for the olympia. He had a do or die attitude, nothing could hold him from his destiny. Anyone ever liked the lesser publicized champs like sammir bannout, chris dickerson, robbie robinson, lee haney, dexter jackson, or ahmed kaydar(sp) (he competed in the olypia a few years ago, looked fantastic, I though he was going to win, then he ended up with last place) ------------------
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 52 |
I didn't hear he was shot on his beat.Docs told him if he wasn't so muscular he probably would have died from the shot.Jealous O'ladies if they aren't shooting you in the stomach they are cuttin' off your manhood. As far as Bobby paris goes he came out of the closet in an interview in Ironman years ago,get this his boyfriend's name was ROD his career never the same.Maybe he should give Ned Beatty a call he likes to "Squeal like a pig"

Ya I remember Jeff King he was great, very thick. To bad He now goes around to High Schools talking about how juice is. I am not sure why exactly he does this, health problems or just want to get out of BB. One of the best in the 80'S which is when BB was the best, MATT MENDINHALL. Does anyone agree? As for today, I think Marcus Rhurl, Ronnie look out Macus is coming. mk

YATES!!!!!!!!!! | ||
Cool Novice Posts: 45 |
Alltime/Robby..even better than Arnold...better abs,Hams that made arnold's look like a girls.Only weak calves held him back, and today he would just use Synthol like everyone else..Sergio..Arnold.Flex is good,Shawn Ray too,but Lee priest has a very weak back, and I've noticed most pros today have shitty back detail.Coleman is disgusting, and an embarrassment to Bodybuilding. No wonder the "sport" is dead.Nasser gets worse every year, and his back is sh_it.I don't follow it much these days because BB'ing, the sport I once loved has gotten out of control with grotesque drug abuse. ------------------

Rachel McClish (even though she was a sanctimonious bitch), Cory Everson and my new fav is Valentina Chepiga. I believe all of their physiques were (are) muscular yet aesthitically pleasing. Zane, Labrada and of course, Arnold. ------------------
Freak Posts: 1531 |
Nac, Robbie? You must be joking. Compared to Sergio he just wouldn't exist on stage. Come on get serious. As for abs, in the seventies abs where hardly trained with weights. In general Joe Weider's magazines stated ' who wants to have thick abs'. That was in the old days of course. NOw it is different, different abs, different roids, growht hormones, insulin, etc, etc. Maybe Robbie would have done better in the nineties, but i don't think so. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short |
