this is a new schedule for me. i get home around 9:00 and i'm in bed by 10:30. what and how much should i eat? will just a high protein, high carb drink do? i am in a growth mode so i'm not too concerned about putting on a little fat.

I used to train @ about 7pm and I made good gains. I would probably take a post workout drink to the gym and drink it right after, then have a decent meal at about 10pm. The only negative to training later is sometimes it's harder to calm down and sleep. Green tea helps with this.

I don't get off work til 9:00 I'm always at the gym late at nights.. I love it. I could work out in the morning/afternoon, but I just don't have the energy for it.

I usually can't workout until after 8:00pm unless it is on the weekends. Lift hard, eat a bunch, drink a big ole protein shake, go to bed, and grow!!!

When I was single after 7:00 was common. I loved it the gym was empty and only real die hards were there. ------------------ If you enjoy it today you can always do it again tomorrow.

Gotta agree, later is better. I've been training for almost 20 years and the later time gives you time to get alot of good nutrients in your body prior to your workout. I also concur that the diehards are typically there to train hard and not to get laid or "talk" about their day. I do have some trouble getting to sleep, but I counter that with some unisom and melatonin. ------------------

10:00 pm. Gold's Gym is open 24 hours and the peak times are from, 4 to 9 pm so I go at 10. It's empty and what I want. No one to hassle me or break my "zone". I have clients in the west coast so my office hours are from 11:30 am to 8 pm. Get home around 8:20 take an hour nap and off to the gym I go.

I always go around 7:00-8:00pm. I eat a meal when I get home and then a MRP or sometimes the other way around. I often have to pop some Melatonin to get to sleep since I am still pumped up at bedtime. There are definately more hardcore people at that time and less of the spaghetti armed pricks that get in the way. By the way, you can be hardcore and still pick up women at the gym. I picked up my current girlfriend at my school's gym. Just talk with them before you start your workout, or even better, when you are finished and your muscles are engourged with blood. Women love to watch big guys workout so it is a perfect opportunity to meet them. I think many women just come to the gym to pick up guys who are in good shape. Plus, if women go to a gym regularly then they are more likely to understand your obsession and less likely to get fat or out of shape so they are good women to date. I also train in the evening, usually after 7pm. I have read in "Optimum Sport Nutrition" that test levels are actually LOWEST during that time, and highest during the morning. The author (Dr Michael Colgan) concluded that it's best to work out in the morning. I would if I had the energy! my $0.02

I work out at 9PM since I work all day, and also because my joints feel "looser" at night. If I tried to squat in the morning, my knees would hurt like hell unless I stretched for a half hour. After the workout, if I'm bulking I drink an 800 calorie shake, wait about an hour, and then usually pass out for the night.

7-8pm all the little kids are gone, and the fat old peddle pushers are off the cardio machines. last time I was getting ready for a show, and I was on the stairmaster for 30 minutes, this FAT cow WADDLES up to me "You are hoginf the machine! And not doing it right anyway!". NOw we have like 12 stairmaster, 10 bikes, spinning classes, ski pole machines, even low level riding bikes. And she targetted the machine I was using. And EXCUSE me DAIRY MAID ... but the fat on this body was 4% not 44% like hers. So I did an second set of cardio. Thanks lady I did win the state title.

I always train about 7-7:30 every night, until about 8:30 or 9. By the time i get to the gym, i have already had 5 meals, so im just about to explode with energy. I usually drink a carb drink during my workout, and most of the time i take ECA about 10 minutes before. Afterwards, i have a bag of Chip's Chip's and another carbo drink. The chips kick ass! They have 40 grams of protein per bag, and they are very small bags. Ill find the website for you.....i think that is what they are called. Anyhow, by training at night, i think it does better for myself, because by the time i get home, i eat another meal, and about 12, before i go to bed, i slam an Nlarge 2 shake, and then hit the sack. Talk about feeling full! ------------------

thanks bros for the great responses. i think i know the answer to this, but i'll ask anyway: i'll be incorporating insulin in my next cycle. if at the end of my workout i'm going to bed w/in an hour, i shouldn't take any insulin post workout, right?

I usually don leave my apt to 730-8 PM to hit the gym. I feel better workingo ut later, I feel I have eaten enough, I tried working out in the afternoon fo awhile, it wasn't bad either..can't imagine mornings though...The best part about working out late, at least inmy gym, is usually only serious people are there, most wannabes or bullshitter have already went home, and only serious lifters are left big-guy

I used to train first thing in the morning, worked great for me but as I got older I had less mornig energy and aroud 25 switched to evenings. I think morning workouts worked best as I had great improvements with absolutely no supplementation. I am sure that being early 20's had something to do with it. Your teststorone peaks i the early morning (evedinced by a mornig stiffy). Try it early if you can, go late it you can't! ------------------ |
