Well I remember reading an Article in Muscular Development by Al'Q Gurley and he said something along these lines, that the absolute minimum required to get ready for a bodybuilding contest is about $8,000 and you could probably do better with $12,000. Bare in mind this article was 5 years old and Al'Q was not the biggest bodybuilder to ever take the stage. Shit a pro woman told me it cost her $10,000 to get ready for her last contest and when I questioned her, she tried to explain that she spends about $600 per month on food. Ok it takes 12 - 16 weeks to get ready for a contest thats $1800 to $2400 on food so where did the other $7600 - $8200 go ????? By the way Al'Q sounded pretty pissed off in the Article as he said he had to fund his own competitions. He said give me Flex Wheeler or Shawn Ray's contract and I will compete 20 lb's heavier. No mention of the fact that Shawn or Flex may have better Genetics than him. Personally I believe Al'Q - the reason these guy's are getting bigger and bigger is due to the drugs and not genetics. Now a lot of you guy's that claim to take small doses and weigh 220 + at 5 or 6 % bodyfat are going to disagree with me and say this is bullshit it's all down to genetics. But who here has used $8,000 to $10,000 on drugs over a 12 to 16 week period? ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am a competitive bodybuilder, and it is indeed expensive to do a show. Including food as a culprit for high expense isn't fair, as my food bill is actually higher in the off season. On the amateur scene, you don't need to spend quite as much as the pro's on gear to be competitive, but the more funds available, the better, that's for sure. Especially for hGH. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()
