This makes the FOURTH time. Tons of time and energy of bro's going into posting, only to have the vaporized.

And, George, since EF's new spruced-up Ultimate Bulletin Board enables the Admin to know which mod deleted whith thread or post, could you kindly answer who has been deleting these posts?

Maybe we have a hacker, you know he might be f*ckin with you DEX.

there were hacker problems in the past.

I don't think the Moderators would do that to you. Most people on the board respect you and your input.....

Just a thought.

Well i certainly didn't do it, i saw it here just a couple of hours ago.

Now what i'm starting to wonder is that it seems as though any post that gets a lot of replies seems to dissappear. I don't know why this happens or if that's what's actually happening, but you're right this is really becoming a pain in the ass!!

Slopain and Huck get my vote hands down. Nothing against anyone else but these two would definitely make a good contribution in this position. I think both have *earned* it.

Said it before, and I'll say it again:
Too many mods. Not enough of them ever post.
And if the problem of posts getting deleted you certainly should be combing through the mods for the culprit. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Dex and Huck have great input. But you don't have to be a mod to post great stuff. Nor should posting lots of great stuff be rewarded with a mod bit simply for the sake of making someone a mod.

Don't know if there are too many mods.
George has many boards here, not just this one.
Besides in all honesty, Huck (numero uno, no question about that), Dexter and Slopain where my votes. Bus as the Ranger states, there are several others to consider.
We may not forget if George gets more mods, these good guys will not go elsewhere, not for the whole 100 %, meaning they can be on other boards too, but they will always come back.

Dexter, I am just a little curious. . .why is becoming a mod so important. . .not busting your chops or flaming you here, but you're lobbying pretty hard for the position. . .personally I just don't get it. . .is there some type of reward here I don't know about, besides being able to move and delete posts. . .you're a respected member, as another I have to admit there are mods I don't particularly agree with but respect and bro's that aren't mods that I respect just as much if not more, I don't necessarily think we need more mods and I certainly don't think anyone should be campaining for it. . .just my 2 cents here.

You say that some of the mods hardly ever post. So how can you follow that by saying that making a few people mods who contribute consistently and with quality, is doing it "just for the sake of making mods". Your very complaint shows that there needs to be some changes. In my mind if they don't contribute then why are they still on. I know if I don't contribute to my companies goals I'm going to be looking for a new job. I know people get busy and so forth, but I also know E2 is busy as hell and I see him on here EVERY day. The same goes for Ranger, 2thick, Cubano and many others......but not all! Despite what you say a mod is someone who earns it. This is earned by being accessible and helpful to the general members while upholding the integrity of the board. In my oppinion we don't need affirmative action or an arbitrary selection system but rather just have a meritocracy. Change is not always bad as nothing can get better without it. If you don't earn the position by contributing then an unfair and arbitrary system is what is in place. Too many cooks or just not the right one's? That's a question that everyone here can have an impact on. Not a flame bro but I want to make it clear that if there is a problem with some of the current mods as you stated, then a inactive approach will do nothing but make the problem worse. (By the way I don't see their being a major problem here at all but I also don't see making deserving members mods as a mere formality.)

Kodiak:

It's pretty simple, really.

Some people enjoy collecting stamps and coins, studying interior decorating, knitting sweaters, rollerblading, etc. These are hobbies. EF heretofore has been my hobby.

I got interested (1) because several mods and vets suggested it and (2) because I don't like to quit and have gotten totally pissed off at the number of deleted threads and my posts.

And because it is a cool position.

Dex,
I respect your interest in position and thanks for helping me understand why you're so interested. I voted for you if you remember correctly I was just curious why you were lobbying so hard for it. Also collecting stamps and coins, studying interior decorating, knitting sweaters, rollerblading, are interesting hobbies too, I just don't have the time right now with work, the gym, eating every 2 hours and my girl but I'll look into them some more.
LOL
Good Luck bro,

Yes, of course, Kodiak, I recall your (now deleted) post voting for me. Thank you.

I'm not into those hobbies as well, they were just examples of how some people enjoy their time (and I go to the gym) but if someone likes them, it's cool.

To me there is definitely something fishy going on that, in my opinion and that of others, cannot be explained as a glitch.

1. Autoarchive can be initiated when practically an unlimited number of posts are made under a thread. Maybe overall not so efficient, but how many posts concerning "Hey bro's, I got laid by the gym manager!!!" posts draw such participation. Practically none. The serious posts draw attention and posts, sometimes lots of them.

2. As George explained, it is possible for mods to delete posts without deleting complete threads. Sheesh, should there be a training program for mods for such a user-friendly bulletin board?

3. El Cubano made a good suggestion (even I think the perpetrator would just lay low for a few days).

4. With the exception of Ranger, no other mod has acknowledged changing his password. In my opinion this needs to be done IMMEDIATELY if not automatically.

5. Some bro's are experts at tracking this shit down. I would encourage their help.

Gamer,
Valid points for sure. And thanks for clearing me up a bit.
Jeff_rys,
Yes there are many other boards. And each board has a list of mods. It makes more sense to federate a mod into only boards he/she should a moderater of. As an example, someone who is HIV savvy should moderate that board, but unless it's needed he/she should not moderate all other boards.

Adding more mods simply because the person(s) are excellent contributers is not a solution to the current board: at some level you reach a point of dimishing returns.

And a good reason to want to be a mod shouldn't be because it's a cool title. It should be because the person feels that be becoming a moderator, they will improve the board more than they have as a mere user.

Not wanting to point fingers: but out of all the mods, there are two that have less than a thousand posts combined on the archives!

I know that you don`t like russian dbol and russians but its not a reason to post a crap.

Bump, something I normally don't do unless I feel it is a general issue.

Althought the "Dex for Mod" threads have been admittedly desirable, thanks to the majority of vets' and mods' support, there is an illness here.

And I and others are going to keep bumping this mofo until there is an answer and solution, or until it vaporizes -- just like four previous posts.

But it will just start another thread, asking the same question.

My password was changed the other day.

As for seeing who is deleting it or if it really is being deleted, I don't think thats possible. I haven't asked George that but some friends of mine run a sports board and use UBB, so I'll ask them.

George has also said that he is looking at a way to write code that will back up all "deleted" posts enabling any glitch eaten posts to be recovered.

E2, I too thought posts with a lot of replies were getting killed off automatically but right now there's a post with over 300 replies on the chat board and it's still alive. Makes me wonder.

Mr H i still think that perhaps the posts from the anabolic board are the only ones affected by either
1. the number of replies
2. the length of time the thread has been around

The system automatically archives threads after a certain date i believe (i could be wrong) i don't know if it discriminates between active and inactive posts. This could be the whole problem.

The chat board posts aren't archived, waste of space LOL!! , but the anabolic ones are.

E2, assuming this is true,to me it's wacky as hell.

Since supposedly the EF version of UBB has been extensively modified, wouldn't it seem plausable to put in a few extra lines of code to (1) cut the chat crap and (2) to allow valid ASB posts to remain at least until, say, 150 - 200 posts?
