i just switched completely to using protein bars. i was wondering any thoughts if i should still keep the shakes in the mix or will the bar be sufficient?

Honestly, i cant stand most of the protein bars out. To me, they all basically suck, but do a good job if you can get them down without gagging. I will stick to my N-Large 2 shakes.

bars are convienient, but several are too high in sugar. Also, an average bar gives about 30grams of protein but is about 70grams total, while a 30g scoop of protein will give you about 20-25g of protein...makes you wonder if you really need all the extra crap in the bar.

Most of the bars dont taste too well. Also directly after a workouyt or when you need protein in a hurry use the shake. It will get into the sytem to be absorbed much quicker

Ive posted this same topic before, does any one read these posts thoroughly? Anyway the best protien bar is Pure Protien by WorldWide Sport Nutrition! Comes in great flavors.

Calories 180
Total Fat 4g
Sodium 60mg
Total Carbs 6g
Sugars 1.5g
Protien 21g

Best of all the bar has a low glycemic count!!
This is an excellent compliment to protien powders. In between meals this represents a great snack. Also has quite a bit of Vitamins and Minerals. You can order these from Netrition.com which is where I get all my supplements. Its very inexpensive!!! LOL

i would have to agree with the convience issue. If i have access to a blender post workout i go with shakes but if i am out all day the bars will be all i can manage.

The good think about shakes is that you are drinking more liquids through the day than you might not be if just eating the bars. Also, the bars seem heavier and fill me up more than shakes.

hey man, what bars are you taking. try meso tech. they have 25 grams of protein in each bar, and they're their pretty tasty. and also for the shakes try myoplex "strawberry cream" they have 43 grams in the packet it self, then add 16ozs. of 2% milk, and a banana, it totals to around 60 grams of protein a serving. and it taste pretty damn good. so try that if you want, both the bars and shakes i mentioned are good to eat, and supply enough protein a serving.

I mainly use shakes, but I will also keep several bars in my gym bag or truck in case I need a quick meal. Plus, the bars are almost like eating candy bars (well kind of, sort of....ok not at all but I can dream can't I!!!!)

Bars suck...The quality of the protein is not the same as in a good protein shake.

Got to go with the consensus on this one. Personally I can't eat those things (the bars), first bite isn't bad, by the third when your still chewing the first so you don't have to swollow it. . .you get the point. . .there are some good shakes out there. I drink myplex at work because I can get it through the company. . .makes me more productive (hehehehehe), and protien factory at night. Peace.
