I went to the drug store and picked up 100 tabs of 500mg niacin. When that stuff started kickin in it scared the bejesus out of me!! My face was burning red for the first 5 minutes or so.. and then it was just a little tingly... After I got use to the way it makes you feel, I loved it. Maybe it was in my head, but I feel like i was more pumped. I think it kindda freaks people out when you get that red. Even my arms were red. Im usually already red because of the test, but this stuff made me look like a cherry! Is it dangerous to use this everyday, just 1 tab before workouts? | ||

Its fine. I work at a Vitamin store and the flush as they call it is a natural effect of niacin. They have flush free too. Me and my friends would take like 5 of the ones you have and it would do the exact same thing. ------------------ | ||

For me its like spunky said it does make your feel weird and antsy is how I would desrcibe it. No real strenght pumps. Just made you feel like you want to get to it. B vitamins are water soluable so we took a shit load but I'd say 500mg or 1000mg will make you freak. ------------------ | ||

I got some Niacin the other day after reading Slopains comments about it. Only took 250mg. But man, not sure if my imagination or not but my bench workout went real well. Also, hot to put it mildly. aEveryone else in the gym was griping beacause it was cold. I was sweating. (its like -10 degrees here in Iowa. Can't wait for next workout tonight. | ||

I used 1000mg 30min before prejudging and 1000mg 30min before the evening show. It increases vascularity and makes you hot. I don't know if it would really increase workout intensity. Maybe I will give it a try tonight. ------------------ | ||

Your body will adapt to it and won't flush if you take it everyday for a while. So if you want the flush don't take it EVERY day. Maybe just like 3 days a week or something. | ||

it was reccommended by my M.D. for increased circulation, it does increase vascularity....not too sure about workout pumps...but there are some definate benefits to supplimenting it.....good stuff... | ||

I just read a Jerry Brainum article about B-Complex Vitamins and he states, "Don't use niacin in any form before training, since the B-complex vitamin inhibits the use of fat as an energy source while speeding up glycogen use." Just take it from what it's worth. | ||

The "flush" from niacin is due to activation of prostaglandin D from the skin beds, which causes capillary dilation in the skin. This can be minimized with the use of low dose aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. | ||

Some niacin use is ok, but in large frequent doses it can be pretty rough on your liver. T | ||

Ok...... check this out.. i did my chest workout this morning, i was gonna do shoulders but because of lack in time i had to leave and come back this afternoon to do shoulders. I took 500mg of niacin before my chest workout this morning.. i took 500 more mg this afternoon before i worked, but i didn't "feel" it near as much the 2nd time as i did the first time. | ||

Spunky: I did a bunch of research on b3 before my contest. The research basically said that you can't have a flush twice a day only once. Even then you must sometimes increase the dose to get that flush again. I did it yesterday and thought why on earth would you want to do this before training ------------------ | ||

haha when i take that shit EVERYONE in the gym stares at me i turn sooo red. its hard to say how much niacin to take.. usually around 500 mg. but depends on how much food you have eaten(more food, the more niacin the food is gonna absorb). theres no real performance inhancing effects with niacin just that pump. no flush niacin would be pointless...because the flush is the pump! ive heard of a lot of people taking this before contest. only problem could be turning too red during workout you might pop a blood vessel |
