I recently got sick with a sore throat and a nose full of shit. The doctor gave me something that he called "steroids", it's referred to as a Z-PAK and the name of the drug is Zithromax. Does this medicine have any kind of anabolic effects? I thought some of the more experienced guys on the board could answer this because i was just curious.    | ||

Z-Pac's are a time release anti-biotic, like a new form of penicillin. It's great for killing bacterial infections like pneumonia. Does not have any anabolic effect whatever. It also kills all the GOOD bacteria in your gut so after a course of this be sure to eat some acidopholous yogurt that has not been pasturized. Pasturizing kills the active yogurt cultures. | ||

John, crushed the topic and is completely right. . .the only anabolic effect you'll get of antibiotics is if your on AS as well, if anything you'll lose weight on them as the 'normal bacterial flora' in your intestine is killed along with the offending bacteria my advice is pick a copy of anabolics 2000, do few searches and learn about AS. ------------------ | ||

I think I was given some of that from the Doc. Was it six pills? Two on the first day and then one a day till finished? He said it was a new anti-biotic. Real pricey.. | ||

zithromax is an antibiotic. Doctors are sometime very ignorant about the meds they prescribe, often calling anything that reduces inflamation a steriod...even though it is not. Rememeber, there are two types of steriods: 1) Anabolic Steriods...promotes growth 2) Cortico steriods...reduce inflamation...no anabolic effects...in fact, they are catablic....cortisol based. |
