O.k., flame if you like but this is a legit question, I have done the research, I read Elite's Mail Order Report, I just lack in the experience department of executing mailorder activity. Correct me if I am wrong. Foreign mailorder is better if you are getting it from a direct source but you have to deal with customs. Domestic is better because you don't have to go through customs but you have to be able to trust your source and hope you don't get caught red handed recieving the gear. Foreign would seem as though it would be better because if you don't sign for it you could say its not yours if it does get detained. So what should one do, run the risk of getting scammed domestically and try to set up a fail mail box account or order foreign, hope they pack it right and deny it if it gets detained? Any experienced response would be appreciated. ------------------

I "Help" some friends out, and I use almost purely international sources. This year, about 1 out of 7 packages got intercepted, but I think that's because the morons on the other side tried to put too much fun into one package, lol. Domestic is great if you have a good relationship, or can develope a good relationship with them. It will save you from the customs hassel, it's faster, it normally always comes in good condition, and there isn't too much worry about scamming IF, AND ONLY IF, you have seen the guy around for a bit, and ask others if he is alright. Chances are, if he did good for others, he will do good for you. If you don't know who to ask about him, ask him for references (at least 5 normally I would say). You run the risk of being scammed either way. I had some good help from the UK, but they scammed me out of $1800 on our 5th transaction. Except to pay more domestic, but the savings in shipping should help that out quite a bit. Normally, people only want like $20 for priority mail. You are now probably getting flooded with scammer emails, so be careful. If you need a reference check on someone, or need more help in general, I'm avalaible at: mailto:[email protected]

It depends on your source. A foreign source can scam you just as easily (even easier) as a domestic source... If you had two equally trusted domestic and foreign sources to choose from, I would choose the domestic. Also, you have to take into consideration where a foreign source mails from, certain countries are watched by US customs making mailorder from there virtually impossible...same holds true for domestic sources- certain cities in the US have their outgoing mail more scrutinized by law enforcement than others (san ysidro, CA / chula vista, CA, etc).
