I've always known steroids raised your cholesterol. But the other day my doctor called to tell me my cholesterol was 255 with a 231 LDL.

My current cycle is pretty basic, 1g of Sus/week, 8cc's Ref-b daily...all the compulsory stuff, clomid for the last week and post-cycle, novladex just in case.

I'm almost positive my Dr will prescribe some cholesterol lowering medicine. Does anyone know how this will affect my system while on cycle?

8CC REF-B!!?? The same 25mg/ml shit the rest of the world takes? Even if it is underdosed, that would make it almost 200mg/day of dbol. There was recently a topic on who's taken the most dbol per day, and you just blew them away... Is my math right or do I need more sleep? (hell, I know I need more sleep. Damn exam week).

255 Total with 231 LDL is miserable, your HDLs (good cholesterol) might be in the single digits, which is real bad. I intend no flame when I say the fat bastard munching McDonald's in his lopsided car probably has arteries that look like yours.

I've been working on an article about gear and cholesterol, but with exams I haven't finished it. Whatever you do, tell your doctor what you are using. Chances are he won't prescribe one of the "statin" drugs, since your liver already has plenty going on. Bile acid resin binders will interfere with your ref-b (I'm guessing you drink rather than inject yes?) along with some other minor concerns. I haven't researched gemfibrozil yet, so I'm not sure there. You are past the point of exercise and niacin though. I'm too tired to remember the others right now...

I'm guessing you are a competitive bodybuilder? If not, reconsider your priorities.

Best wishes bro, I wish I could tell you not to worry. I'll try to do some more work on this if time allows. Peace!

I'll find out more info concerning LDL levels when I get out to him next week.

Yes I do compete.
But it's never too late to consider alternatives.

All steroids have the propensity to cause blood lipid alterations, such as reduction in HDL and increase in LDL's. Most of the anti-hyperlipidemic drugs used have some degree of liver toxicity, so using one (or more) while on such a whopper dose of methandrostenolone is not wise.

Three things you may try:

1. Continue with the cycle and not use pharmaceutical agents (statins, fibrates, resin binders, etc.) and simply try using fibers, along with nutritional supplements, such as garlic extracts, artichoke extracts, guar gum, chitosan, turmeric, ginger extract, etc.

2. Continue with the cycle, but remove any 17-AA steroids (namely Ref-B in your case) and use pharmaceutical agents your Dr. proscribes. The removal of the steroids that are hard on the liver will reduce any chance of hepatic damage. Niacin with a statin (simvastatin) is showing excellent results in blood lipid improvements.

3. Continue with your cycle, don't take anything for cholesterol and then when off-cycle take strong measures to improve cholesterol, whether pharmaceutical or nutriceutical.
