Just taking a pole: Do you guys typically use your real name or a false name when ordering mail order overseas? There are conflicting schools of though on this one. Just wanna know what people are thinking, and why? Thanks

I used my real name. . .most people say to do so, so you don't have a federal charge of mail fraud added to your charges if snagged. Customs nabbed my order a while back and I decided not to go foreign again. Too much $$$, too much risk. . .you may pay a bit more for domestic but I have found as probably most bro's its way more reliable. Just food for thought.

if your source has good packaging, i dont see anything wrong with using your own name, but make sure you know them well, and you trust there shipping techniques.

I talked to my postman and he said they wont deliver to an address if the name on the package doesnt match. Its part of the usps security deal. So using a fake name may not always get delivered.

Sometimes if an express package is held for your pickup you need to show ID to get it, which would suck if you used a fake name.

And like Kodiak said, fake names add another charge to your list, and it makes it a lot tougher to get off without much trouble. Fraud is not a "no big deal" charge to a judge.

My opinion.

Real name.

Real physical address, not a P.O. box.

Maybe a PMB.

Local post offices are often ignorant about overseas packages and require signature, even though they are typically sent as ordinary parcels.

Sign for the fucking package, if required. Enjoy. Get big.

You're dealing now in the league of big boys and girls.

The chances of a so-called "controlled delivery" are about as remote as winning the grand prize of the state lottery.

My opinion. Still not a bad question, though, even though it's been plowed and plowed and plowed.

not true about delivering to "fake" names to your address, the PO doesnt know who lives there, they dont care... they just deliver. i use nicknames and real names... i get the mail.

LOL Dexter. You read my mind. Use your real name and addy. I can accept losing gear to customs but not just because I put a fake name or addy on it and the dumbass postman got confused...

Real name. If your source packages well, and it has not been tampered with, nothing to worry about. My postman knows me and would wonder about any mail not for me. Also, mail fraud charges will be added if things go bad.

The reason I want to use a fake name:

Say the package is stopped and a controlled delivery is set-up. I could always say that it was misdelivered since the name was wrong. I know playing dumb doesnt always work, but at least you stand a fighting chance. If I use my real name, in the same senario, I think I'd be pretty screwed since the package was addressed to me. of course the mail fraud penalty you guys mentioned is making me think twice. I told my source to use his discretion...we'll see what he does.

I use fake names for overseas source's and real name for domestic. Maybe I'm being paranoid but it puts my partners mind at rest!

...besides I live in a shitty area that has a big drug problem. It is not that unuasal for the police to take unuasal measures to get a result.
