Do a lot of the Iron Bros on this board workout alone or with a partner. I have a very elaborate home gym and have found that many times even when Im lifting very heavy I get my best workouts alone! The strange thing is that when training alone even if I dont lift as much as with a spotter I seem to get a shit load sorer the next day. WTF!!! Is it because it forces you to rely more on yourself than your partner. "When asked by a priest to attend MASS, I replied, "I attend MASS every day!!!" | ||

I nrormally work alone, but with say, DB mil. press I need a spot to get my form set at the top whenI'm going heavy, then I'm fine. With a partner is definately better for me. We push each other, especially helps on a day when you might not feel as motivated. Helps to get a few extra forced reps out, which would otherwise be dangerous on my own. We compete with everything. Like eating competitions etc. If I'm on my own for any reason I usually allways try and get a good spotter on my heavier sets. | ||

I mix it up. . .If I am doing legs and find someone in the cage that knows what he's doing squat we will. If and when I can bench again, I usually just find a bro at the gym that I know. Periodically I have a buddy who I lift with. Unfortunately, he doesn't take his training seriously enough. He's one of those 2 weeks on one week off guys. The bottom line, to make new highs and really train for the ultimate pump, you need the competition and motivation provided by a partner. ------------------ | ||

I have to say definetly a partner. I use to have one that was just as motivated as I was so we would always push eachother. It's also kind of hard to do force reps w/out one!!! Of course if you can't find a good one then workout alone! You don't need anybody fucking up your workout!!! ------------------ | ||

I've been working out at my home for 10 years alone in the basement. I'm now 39 years old. Some might think i'm not progressing however i have. Last year i competed for the first time and everyone was saying "where the hell did you come from". I place in the top 3 of all of the shows i did (3 shows) total. I live in the country and just don't like spending so much time on the road back and forth to a city gym. This year however after making friends at these shows i'm training legs on Sunday with two other body builders The rest of the week i'm down in the basement. | ||

Personally, with a partner...my better half. She knows exactly how to spot me. Unless blood vessels are popin and blood gushin down my ear drums she does not put a finger next to any bar. And the same goes with me. Actually if I only twitch, after her set is done, I get an ear full. Must be the Primo acting up. | ||

I get the best results by myself at home, except for the real heavy shit. I can dig real deep and get purely evil....that's hard to do with alot of partners. You know, get the music loud and become a monster...I haven't met a partner with enough aggression during training. Maybe I should encourage them to pop cheque drops..LOL | ||

Conan is right on in my opinion. I lost my workout partner this summer, and, well, it just wasn't the same again. Some people prefer to go it alone and have great lifts. Me, I like to have somebody screaming at me, "C'mon man, ONE MORE!" And, of cource, reciprocate. It's tough to find a good workout partner. Dexter ------------------ | ||

I prefer to train w/a partner but because my schedule it so crazy I do not have anyone full-time. I train w/my hubby when we can both make it(We met in a shithole gym when Jesus walked the earth.). And when both of our schedules allow Fitness Chick hammers my ass into the ground quite sufficiently. ------------------ |
