Ok Mods, gurus, and medical experts i need some help. Chronic compartment syndrome is similar to shin splints except the pain is on the outside of the shin. I did not start having this excruciating pain until I started my anabolic use and I am wondering if this is a coinsedence or not. Whenever I run, after about 5 to 10 minutesthis pain starts and then goes all the way down into my feet, almost making them numb. After stopping excersise, i about 5 minutes the pain goes away. The doctors said itis chronic compartment syndrome and the pressure build up in my outer shins is 10 times normal post excercise! Does anybody else sffr from this? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Looks like surgery is the only way to cure this problem...

I believe I have this. (Feels like the front outer side of your shin is going to explode, then your foot goes numb).

I posted my experience with this the other day on the training board.

I used to run all the time, but since this started bothering me in August Ive pretty much quit running. Im going to see a doctor Tuesday.

Man thats wierd you posted this cuz I just got outta the hospital for "compartment syndrome" but I had to have my leg drained. I was playing ball and tangled legs with another dude and my lower leg swelled so bad it caused cracks in my skin. I never did tell the doc I was "ON" but after your post I wonder if the AS attributed to it. I was like you before when I would run it hurt like hell---almost like a total pump in your leg but painful. Make sure you get it checked out cuz doc said if I had waited it would have turned gangrene.

Reducing intracellular bloat/edema would help, so start thinking of things that would help.
Arimidex
Lower calorie diets (maybe?)
Keeping feet elevated when possible
Mild diuretic use

Keep em coming. The Compartment syndrome with AS use is related to the thoracic outlet syndrome with AS use. Contributions to the knowledge would help many... Peace!

I'm suprised none of the Docs knew what this (probably) is; compartment syndrome. Your legs are divided by tough fibrous membranes into "compartments". If you try to fit too much muscle, nerves, blood and blood vessels into a compartment, blood flow to it gets reduced. The pain you feel is probably ischemic (from inadequate blood flow). Surgical treatment is to cut the membrane, unpleasant. Get a PT eval. My $0.02. Peace!
