I got a my flu shot today, the damn nurse just jabbed my shoulder and injected! No aspiration!!! What gives?     | ||

yep they never do. Why do we worry about it so much? Maybe its just the volume of shots we do all the time. | ||

Nurses have injected so much that they know exactly where to pin you, and don't feel the need to aspirate. ------------------ | ||

Hell i've injected so many damn times i dont aspirate, call me crazy but for me its not necessary anymore, all aspirating does for me is move the needle around in my muscle which equals 3 or 4 days of unwanted and uneeded soreness......to each his or her own........ ------------------ | ||

I always do and I never drew blood yet. But I will still continue to do so whether it's nesscesary or not. I always say, better safe than sorry. Especially in this game. ------------------ | ||

Future One, no way bro, you are wrong. I don't care how many times a nurse or anybody has done injections, they must aspirate. My girl has been a critical care R.N. for years now, and trust me, they are supposed to aspirate before any injection. If anybody thinks for one second that they can just jab a pin into a muscle without hitting a vein because they have done it so many times, then they are sadly mistaken. As you grow, new veins, capilaries, vessles, nerves, etc., are all created all the time to feed your new body tissue. Just because you jabbed yourself in one spot before, doesn't mean that there isn't a new vein there now. It takes all of two seconds to pull back on the plunger, and your a fool if you don't do it. All it takes is one mistake of filling your circulatory system with 3 or 4 ccs of oil. Why take the chance? Because you are scared of a little soreness? That's just stupid. | ||

I have NEVER seen a PA or Nurse aspirate!!! I have had tetnus in the delt with NO aspirate. I had a huge 20 gauge of cortizone in my ass with no aspirate. |
