Those things arn't even remotely accurate. There is a +/- of about 20% on those pieces of shit.

Chill out guys. The tanita isn't that bad. You just have to set it to "athlete" mode to get the correct reading. I get my bodyfat checked at the doc's and there was less than 1% difference from the Tanita.

Your readings will vary slightly during the day (by as much as 2%) depending on how hydrated you are, so take the reading at the same time every day.

I have one of those shitty Tanita scales and they are always 10-15% off on my bf%. The only cool thing about them is you can wet your hair and your bodyfat percentage will drop drastically. I wish that was all it took in the real world.

I think there is some kind of disclaimer on it or in the manual or what not that says it isn't appropriate to use for atheletes or bodybuilders. It is for you standard 40 year old house wife and kids.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I love my Tanita scale. I have had a bodyfat test using water weighing, calipers and the Tanita scale. And all three are within +-2% of each other. The Tanita consistantly says 8% with me. My friends (who think that they are 8%) get pretty accurate measurements from what my estimation averages at about 16%.

I have an electronic bf scale, and I have it set on athlete.
If I weigh myself each day at the same time (and it says to do it in the evening), then it is always accurate +/- 1% for me.

Not all models have an athelete mode, it also makes no adjustments for frame size. They suck, mine is about 10% high.
