if you cut your calories you will lose fat. But if you just eat mostly protein can you eat as much as you want and still lose fat

You sort of answered your own question. It comes down to caloric intake. Granted there are drastically different ways to lose WEIGHT based on macronutrient ratios but we, as bodybuilders, want to lose FAT. So, no you could not eat as much protein as you want, assuming you would eat as much as you want until you went over your caloric limit. If you ate as much as you wanted but it still was within your caloric allotment then you inadvertantley would be cutting calories. So we arrive back at your first statement......it comes down to thermodynamics. You need to expend more energy than you take in, bottom line.

It is more effective to have some carbs in the morning for energy, then cut it within6 hours of bedtime.

Low calories only help if you are anti-catabolic at the time.
