Itore my pectorial muscle about 2 years ago and went to see a orthopedist and she said it would heal in about 6 months and the hole/dent I have in my chest is still their. Between my underarm and shoulder right at the upper chest in the corner their is a big hole/dent in my chest where the muscle tore off. She said it would fillup with scar tissue and it never did!!!! She said with surgery it might not help because it is difficult to reattach muscles/fibers. Can I still get surgery even though it is 2 years later. Has anyone has this happen to them or someone they know. If so, What happened? did they recover? Someone please help!!!! I have posted this question on almost every board with no response or information wont help me.

Anything can be "fixed" these days.
Do you have good range of motion and strength in the affected area?
It sounds as though you might need cosmetic (plastic) surgery to make you chest look normal.
Talk to a Plastic Surgeon and see what he/she says.
Good Luck

Sorry to hear that bro,
My brother had the same thing happen to him. He got the surgery and it got a little better but not much it's still noticible especially when he flexes. He didn't even had Med insurance the surgery costed him 10 grand. But he paid it because he strips and his body is how he makes his money. So like I said it'll be better but never like it was. Sorry Bro

Well i had major pectoral surgery in jan of this year and i'm back in full swing .
i stay away from heavy bench presses though.
my first dr. told me the same thing that it woul heal on it's own.
i'm glad i got a second opinion you only have 21 days to reattach the muscle mine tore away from the tendon and bicep.
it was like sewing jello he said and 26 staples and in 6 months i was back to normal.
you may have a lawsuit against for malpractice if its irreversable.
had my oper. done by the 4th top surgeon in the u.s. @ o.r.m.c.

the hole won't fill up or go away i'd get a good second opinion.

eze

Slim,

I had this happen to a friend of mine. He was using the flat bench pushing five plates a side. He took it off the rack, began to bring it down, touched his chest, had a great push up, until he got 3/4 of the way and then BANG! The weight went down and it went down hard. Luckily he had some of the boys spotting him. Everyone immediately knew something was wrong. Two minutes later his peck was swollen up near his chin and off to the hospital he went.
The Doc told him that in 15 years he has never seen a tear so bad. The news really derailed him because he was in prep for a show later that year. It took him about 6 months and he lost around 50Lbs. He had to have surgery to get the peck re-attached of course.
Now, I didn't want to tell you this story to get you down but that's what happened. What I haven't told you is that after the rehab (his first day on the bench was a total of 55Lbs for eight) He came back with vengeance. The peck gives him some minor problems and the only way you can tell is when he is in contest shape (day of) you can see the spot though the thin skin alittle. The surgery was the way to go for him but I am not sure if he had any other options. Good luck Bro, rest up and get ready to hit it when you come back!

hey bro, I've got exactly what you've got, and whatever dumb bitch said that the hole would fill in with scar tissue needs to be smacked around a little. I've been lifting now for 7 years since I tore my pec in high school, and the dent is still there. The muscle around has grown, and eventually should start to overlap on both sides of the dent. It's just going to take a long time bro. I just started lifting "seriously" within the last 2-3 years, and I'm hoping now that I'm starting to get on gear that the dent will eventually disappear or become almost unnoticeable. People tell me they don't notice it until I point it out, I'll take their word for it, but I damn sure notice it every day. I was considering going to a surgeon and asking if there was some surgery that could at least partially remove some of that scar tissue so that some real muscle fiber can grow in it's place.
