I think of myself as a very thorough person, But for the 3 days I have been taking 100ius of insulin, thinking I was taking 10ius. Is this reversible or have I already cause damage to my natural insulin production? Guys I need some info, I'm kind of scared!     | ||

Dude you shot 100ius?, damn man you are one crazy mother. I would say if you feel anything werid at all go to the ER, that is alot of insulin at once man. good luck | ||

It is humulin R and I took it with insulin points, measured in Ius. 100units = 1cc | ||

Hey alcatraz, what do you mean were the needles and insuling compatible? I'm interested about this. can you post what insulin is compatible with what needle. Is humalog compatible with 30g 5/16"? | ||

Ok, I don't know about long term effects on your pancreas(produces slin) but if you used Humolog R which only is active for 2-4 hours then you would have felt dizzy, nauseaous, and in extreme cases go into shock and a coma(which you abviously didn't) A real slin needle only holds 1/2cc and that is alot of slin to take at once. If you feel any of the effects at all then eat cake frosting, drink OJ, Caro syrup is also good. How have you been feeling for the last couple days? at all lethargic or extremely tired? You need to be very sure that for example if the Insulin you are using says for U100 that the needles are also for U100 if not you get inacurate dosages either too much or too little. | ||

My insulin point measures 100units. I only felt weird last night 5 hrs after my 100iu dose. I ate tuna and drank a can of coke. I am not unusually tried or anything else. I crave carbs. If I go back to taking 10ius will I be fine or should I take a break? | ||

Ya, lawnsaver, you freaked me out on your earlier post when you said that 10 iu=1cc. Thats why I had you go back to that post and read what I put. Dude I cannot help you for you situation. I know it's late right now and nobody has a resolution for you yet. Don't you have a local Ask-A-Nurse program that you could call? Call the hospitol or something. Don't just sit here and wait for us to tell you if your gunna be ok. Just call the hospitol and ask, or even just call 911 and tell them you don't have an emergency, but you have a very serious medical question. I'm sure they can direct you to the right place. | ||

Lawnsaver, if you have only took the Insulin for a few days you should be all right...But take a break, at least 4 weeks...If you would like to know the proper way to take it I will explain... | ||

This happened last night. I got shakey and sweaty, I ate and drank, felt better, then fell asleep. I woke up fine. I feel fine tonight. I'm looking for answers on my natural production of insulin, did I do damage. | ||

Lawnsaver, you probally didn't do any harm, however you are lucky to not be dead, just take a break, like I said...Damage to your own production is almost always done by staying on Insulin for extended periods of time, the damage that is done by overdosing in a short period of time is Death. | ||

Well, that dose could be lethal, and also depends how many times a day you're taking it. If you're doing slin, you should always carefully plan and measure carbs, and if you did this for 10iu you would've been screwed, so I'm assuming you adjusted your food intake accordingly for the 100iu. Basically, after three days you shouldn't have done any real damage. If you're still alive, you got nothing to worry about. IronMike | ||

Glad you're OK bro. I wrote on the other posts, glad you realised before it was too late. If you had done any real damage I don't think you'd still be here. The Humalin R peaks at about 2 hours, usually stops at 4 but can be still active for up to 8. After that time it should be out of your system. You probably didn't go hypo at two hour because you ate your carbs etc. but about 5 hours later your stomach would be empty again. Luckily you got your simple sugars in time. As for permenant damage I'm not sure. I'd guess you're OK as insulin tollerence can take a while to develop. Personally I'd ask a doc about long term effects of such a high dose and take a few weeks off before I used it again. YOU LIVER ONLY HOLDS ABOUT 150G OF GLUCOSE AND YOU MUST EAT 10G CARBS PER IU SO THAT MEANS 1000G CARBS... ANYWAY THERE IS 3 TYPES OF SYRINGES FOR INSULIN 30IU, 50IU, 100IU.... Yeah, if you are going to use slin, I would just make sure I was extra careful and watch exactly what I am doing. No flame bro, but "Oops, I accidently injected 10x the amount I was supposed to. I fucked up" is some scary shit. Real scary. Hope everything works out for you. D. |
