Living in the midwest, it's hard to get some color in the winter months. I've tanned in a tanning bed before last year without using any kind of lotion. Can anyone give me some advice as to what I should use to maximize my tanning results? Lotion, type of bed, starting off, exfoliating, antioxidants? I don't burn really, just the first suntan of the year a bit. Want to take which ever precautions necessary without causing damage to my skin and also to have a nice looking tan (not these blotchy dry looking ones I see at my gym). Thanks     | ||

Hey, If you can find the stand up tanning booths, use them. You won't get those white patches As for the tanning oil/creams/etc .. The only thing they are good for is turning people Orange and wasting your money. GC | ||

Try to find some good tanning lotion with something called the "tingle factor," I used it last summer and it gets you mega-dark...go easy at first, though, you'll burn pretty bad if you go for the regular time you usuually do without it! ------------------ | ||

I work for a tanning distributorship. I sell tanning beds, lamps, parts, am a technician, and I sell lotion. Look for a bed with at least 32 lamps. I do not like stand up beds, but that is just my pref. The lamps are too far away from your body. You get white spots on your back and butt because circulation is not allowed when those are your pressure spots while laying down. Turn over, simple answer. As far as tanning lotion goes, use it. Helps a lot. Skin only burns when it is not moist, or moist enough. Lotion helps not to tan and to increase your body's ability to gather and hold a tan. I do not like California Tan personally, but that is just me. I am a big fan of Power Tan, Sweedish Beauty, and John Abate. I also sell those because I make comissions from them, but that is a different story. If you need ANY other help, just let me know (email). I can get you anything. B True | ||

Some people may disagree, or even dislike what I have to say, but I'd be careful with the tanning beds. next month will be a year since I had a large chunk of skin cut out of my back due to skin cancer. BE CAREFUL WITH THE BEDS AND WITH THE SUN.

start off with some mild lotion for the first 3-4 sessions less than 5 minutes first time then increase by 2 minutes until the 5th seesions then get some of the tingle factor 3+ shit and lay in the bed for 20-30 minutes 2 or 3 times a week, You can use either a stand up bed or a regular bed, I have in my basement a regular bed, 24-bulb and it works great. ------------------ | ||

I own a tanning salon so I think I can help. First you have to tell us what bed options your salon has, I prefer something with a VHR 160watt bulbs in it. And to answer your question on lotions, I never tan without lotion, it doesn't make you orange!! I like React from Ultimate, Volcanic Tanning Mud from Cal Tan, Hot from Australian Gold, to name a few. Any other questions email me. |
